"Update now," not "Search update now"!

Using 4.0b SR-1 (4.02.3.7704) has not fixed an annoying problem with the command box. I've searched the forum for an answer, and found other people having similar issues, but could not spot any clear fix. I apologize in advance if I have missed it.
Every time I try to use a command (like "update now" or "open...<whatever>") in the command box, Logos 4 turns it into a search (e.g., "search update now"), which obviously doesn't return any results and, worst of all, utterly frustrates me.
Could someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this?

I'm not able to duplicate this, Ruben.
When I type update now in the command bar and press Enter, the update functions normally. If I spell it wrong, or put it in quotes, it does what you say. Further, when I type in a command like this, I get a drop-down list of options. The first option is under a heading called "Tools," under that is another heading called "Search" where I see things like "Search for update now Ctrl-Enter,"etc.
Is it possible that you are pressing Ctrl-Enter instead of just Enter after typing the command?

Are you using the Spanish UI, Ruben? I wonder whether those commands have been translated and you need the Spanish equivalent?

This may sound crazy (and it probably is) but did you try typing in "Update now" with a capital "U"?

I have seen this behavior for a short time where the drop down menu choices jump into the command box while I was typing. I'm running a USA version of XP SP3 and 4.0b SR-1. However, I was able to mouse click in the command box and edit the contents to avoid the choices in the drop down menu. I cannot duplicate the problem now.
Now when I type in the command box, a drop down menu of choices appears grouped into sections called Tools, Resources, and Search. The focus stays in the command box as it should.
I'm sorry I don't have a solution for you, but at least Logos staff will see that your problem is not necessarily related to the Spanish version of XP.

That log is from 2009. Can you delete all the logs from your Logos folder, and turn logging on again and re-send them? Thanks.

The log comes from 2009 Reuben, and not useful. Enable permanent logging, restart L4, enter update now followed by sync now, exit L4 and upload both logs.
When did the problem first occur?
Does it occur if you use the Spanish interface of L4?

Dave, I tried to do what you said. The log file (the only one I have, since I deleted the folder just recently) is below.
When I switch the UI to Spanish I can perform both of those commands perfectly (I guessed it would be "actualizar ahora" and "sincronizar ahora", but have no idea what the other Spanish commands are -- if there is any documentation, I'm not aware of it). I am particularly interested in "set update channel to beta".

The logs don't show anything revealing. I think that the Spanish commands will work when you switch L4 back to the English interface!
I don't know Spanish commands but if you want to update to beta try the download mentioned in the PC Beta Forum (see the first two posts).

In both logs, by the time you type "update now" an automatic update is already in progress. That could be why the command isn't being recognised.
There's also been a suggestion in another post that perhaps switching the language UI may cause commands from the previous language to 'stick'. Perhaps try the spanish command in the English UI and see what happens.
As for the beta channel, perhaps someone in the Spanish forum might know?

Having a similar problem....I need to do "Reindex now" and when I hit enter or click on the arrow the command box is
automatically filled with "Search for reindex now" and brings up the
search screen....cannot do "reindex now" at all.Chuck

EDIT: I found the original thread for this user's query (he needs rebuild bible index).

I'm too having this problem. I'm using 4.0b SR-1 Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 7 Ultimate (both Spanish) and cannot enter any command beyond some of the "show" commands, no matter which user interfase language I selected (english or spanish).
Look at this: I'm trying to enter a Rebuild command. I only wrote the "r" and wait to see the search box:
As you can see, the commands that starts with "R" like Rebuild Index does not show, only "Show Reading Plan". If I completed the command and press ENTER (not Ctrl-Enter, just ENTER), this is what I got:

I had this problem. Now I just type: update, and get the choice of 'update now' or search for 'update'. I have another problem. When I have bought a book I am told to close Logos 4 and then start it again to get it to download. I have to do this about 3 t imes before the download starts. Maybe I should wait a bit longer for the software to get the message from USA to me in Albania??

Though it may work almost immediately you get the order confirmation it's best not to take it literally, so give it half an hour or so (applies to USA users as well as Australia and Albania!).

thanks, Dave. How about mentioning in the letter you send to confirm the payment that it may take up to 30 mins for the programme to register the purchase and start downloading? I know, now that you have explained, but there must be others who don't.
