Bug: Placing a cursor in the Notes editor

This is also a HUGE problem for me. I have been trying to use notes more for sermon writing, but encounter this same issues frequently...highlight of sections for no apparent reason, along with the inability to click out of the highlighting for several tries, screen snapping to other areas, etc. I have tried to screen capture the issues, but it always seems to misbehave when I am not recording. However, I did get one instance, where the screen snaps / jumps to the top of the note, and where a random section of text gets selected for no apparent reason (although it isnt always at the very top), recorded today.

Hope this helps the techs discover a fix. This is very aggravating and seems to happen more frequently as the document gets larger.

PS: I did discover that minimizing previous notes at least keeps the bug from jumping into them; thus the bug will now only snap to the top of the existing note.

I have the same issue. It is very, very annoying. It gets a bit better if you switch to the "compact view". But this view is not my first choice.

As am I (7.8 b3), but this issue has been going on for a while, so I do not think it to be related to any of the beta releases. I think it is just something that hasn't been widely reported. Hopefully this will now be an issue to be investigated.

I have heard nothing from Logos regarding the erratic behavior of long notes fields. A Logos rep at the recent PCA General Assembly has experienced this himself. Please help.

Just a suggestions, to attract more people who might be having this issues, I would add specificity to the forum subject line by editing it to:

"Bug: Erratic behavior editing Notes - snaps to top, faulty text selections, can't click desired locations" or something similar.

I have tested this in Compact View, as well, and cannot replicate in that view.

John F Jones: I just got off the phone with a technical support person for the 3rd or fourth time in over a year when I first reported this problem. I was told over a year ago that this would be forwearded to the senior tech's, programming, and engineers. I spoke with a technician about two or three weeks ago and he remoted into my computer and observed it himself; and said that he would forward it to the programmers. Well today October 24, 2017, I called about another matter, but before ending the call I just happened to mention to the tech if the issue that I reported over a year ago has been dealt with? To my disappointment I was told that there was no indication that I had spoken to anyone about this? What a disappointment! I have been with Logos, Libronix, and now Faith Life since the 1990's when you had to load a 4" and 3" floppy disc to start the program and then downloading about 30 3.5 inch floppy discs. Since that time all I have seen is a decrease in quality and customer service. There was a time when the representatives would talk about the Lord to you. I talked with a guy not too long ago and I was wondering if this was still a Bible Programm Company? Yes, over years there have been many upgrades to this program but the more they put into this program, the more they need to stop and realize that the quality of performance is going down, and the customer service has become deplorable. It is now (like everything else these days, money!) and more money. Just imagine in over a year of complaints about the very issue that you are bringing up now - there were no notations available?

Aaargh! Otis, I have been so frustrated by this issue. Logos is miserable with long notes fields. In June 2017 in Greensboro, NC a Logos rep. confirmed the issue. I am not sure if Logos cannot solve the issue (which may be) or if Logos won't solve the issue because not enough people use Notes in this way. Logos brilliantly helps us move forward and back in a 400 page book, selecting text from the middle of the book, copy text, highlight text, etc. No problem. But as soon as you try to do this within a note field, it snaps to the top of the field. Merely selecting text is a miserable user experience. Logos, please help!

Yes, this is very frustrating. About a month ago, I reminded a support person of this issue. The person promised to try to get the bug prioritized. But unfortunately, it does not seem to have happened.

How does Logos want us to use their notes tool if it is so annoying? Maybe it is only an issue on Mac so the number of complaints is too low to get Logos' attention. But considering that we all appear to be long-term users who extensively use Logos (otherwise we wouldn't have large notes files), it is disappointing that we are ignored.

This is one of my grievances. My other one is with the Mobile apps. A few months ago, I "celebrated" my first anniversary of reporting the bug.

Armin, thanks for helping to keep this topic "fresh." I don't want it to go ignored. I love Logos, I am a passionate user. I do not think that Logos needs to have a full-feature word processor embedded in the app; the simple text editor in Notes is just fine. However, if it's included, it needs to work properly.
