Is there a simple way to do this?

If anyone could help me, I would be so grateful! All I want to do is simply to make a note in a book the same way that I would do if I had a physical book and wrote notes in the margins. Yet, for all of Logos' power, I can find no simple way to do this. Everything seems so complicated. Yes I can make a note, but I want to tie that note to the book, so that when I look back through the book, I'll see the note. I just can find no simple way to do this. I wish there were a way simply to right click and select "Insert note here" or something like that.

If you click the circle icon (for visual filters) and select the notes document, it will show a little yellow sticky note where you have attached notes. You attach a note by highlighting a section of text and right clicking it. Let me know of screenshots would help.

Logos provides many power features... but with the added power and flexibility also comes added complexity. There are several ways to accomplish what you want.

Highlights ARE notes. The simplest method would be to simply create a highlight. You have different options for where those highlight notes are stored, so you should become familiar with the options. The default behavior is for the highlight note to go into a note document named for the highlighter pallet. This is counter intuitive to me, and I prefer (most) all notes to be stored in a note document named for the resource.
If you don't want a highlight, you can create a non highlight note (which is identical to a highlight note... just without the highlight). This is a little bit more complicated. You will first create and/or open the note document you want the note to go into. Once you have done this, you can right click and choose add note to "name of note document".

As Justin and Alabama said, it isn't too complicated once you understand how notes work. I do what you want to do all the time.

The resource specific note file is an important suggestion. Create a blank note file named for your resource and be sure your notes go to that file. Then you can turn on or off those notes using the visual filter menu in the resource, and you can open the note file to see all your notes on that book. You can export that file to use outside Logos. If you let your notes go to a general file you can still see them in your book, but when you open the notes file it will show notes from all over, and you wouldn't be able to export just the notes for your resource.

FL is doing a major rewrite of notes, highlighting and clipping functionality, first via the web app. We have little detail yet but what has been said indicates they will no longer be tied down to document files.

For the time being as others have said I'd recommend going into your highlighting palletes and setting each one so that it defaults to creating highlights in a resource specific file. Whenever you are reading a book open the resource specific note file and that note file will show on your right click menu as 'Add Note to document name'. This is the simplest way to do it and will essentially get you close to what you want. The key is to make sure you open the resource specific document as the right click menu show the most recently acessed note files.

I want to thank everyone for their your advice. Your suggestions are helping me. Disciple of Christ, I'm also glad to hear that there is a major rewrite going on. Could be a big help going forward.
