Timeline Events as Labels and the Timeline Tool

It is possible to use "Timeline Event" as a label attribute but I am unclear as to whether this has any potential of connecting to the Timeline Tool. Can I label dates in resources as Timeline Events and then see these entries reflected in the Timeline Tool?

You can't create a Timeline Event (or a Biblical Event) as the value has to be an existing Event! Where you add the label it is not treated as a Timeline Visual filter, but as a Label that can be searched via the Context menu.

Yes, I realise that. I thought that perhaps by linking to an existing Timeline Event, the popup window in the Timeline Tool would now have a link to the place where the label was created. Apparently not so. Then what is the purpose of that type of label?

See above where I edited my initial response. An annotated Timeline Event is only attached to a Date, so you can add such Labels to resources that have not been annotated, or just use them as convenient tags for selected text.

Then it is a date label and not a timeline event. There is something discordant to the idea that:

A timeline event may be present in the Timeline tool such as "This thread, 2 weeks ago".
A new date, differing from it (e.g., "the post today") may be attached to that "event" in the timeline although it has no bearing whatsoever on the date data attached to it (it will still only show as "2 weeks ago").

Perhaps it would be best to refer to these simply as "events" or "dates" ("dated events"?) to remove the notion that such labels are some kind of "timeline" data. The timeline features dated events indeed, but not all dated events are featured in the timeline.

That may allow a date precise enough not to be a "vague assertion".

Dave, I only provided an hypothetical example to illustrate what I see as problematic. Neither the manual, nor the imprecision of the example used, nor yet the suggestion to provide a screenshot help in the present case or answer the expressed concern.
