How to send hyperlinks from Logos resources to my Personal Book?

Dear friends,
I have a slightly technical question and I hope there might be a power-user out there who can help me out.
My question is whether there is a way to send hyperlinks from Logos resources to my Personal Book.
I know typically one would want the other way around (Personal Books to Logos resources), but in my situation, my Preferred Bible is not yet on Logos (because it is in Chinese), so I made a Word document and uploaded it as my Personal Book.
Now it will be very helpful if I can send hyperlinks from other Logos resources (e.g., commentaries) directly to this Personal Book (Chinese Bible), but the [Send hyperlinks here] function does not work in this case.
I've also tried to open an English Bible and put both Bibles into the same set. This will create a red highlight to the correct Bible verse index in my personal book, but the personal book does not scroll to the right verse.
(For example, if I click on a hyperlink (for a Bible verse) in a Commentary, the English Bible scrolls to that verse, where as my Personal Book will not scroll along. However, if I scroll to that verse manually, I see it is marked with a red highlight.)
Is there perhaps other methods I can try? I would greatly appreciate any tips you can offer!
God bless,
Joanna Chang

1. Did you build it as a Type: Bible?
2. Provide a sample of several verses from your Word docx file (copy and paste will be OK).

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your message.
I tried to build it as a Type:Bible as you suggested, but I am not sure if I used the correct syntax. Below are the first few lines of John 1.
Thank you very much for looking at them.
Joanna
{{bible-on}}
{{field-on:Bible}}
Gospel according to John Chapter 1
{{field-off:Bible}}

{{bible-on}}...{{bible-off}} and {{field-on:Bible}}...{{field-off:Bible}} are equivalent, and apply only to bible text.
John 1:1 is not bible text and it also has to be stated as a milestone: [[@Bible:John 1:1]] John 1:1 OR [[@Bible:John 1:1]] 1
Reformat John 1 as follows:-
Gospel according to John
Chapter 1
[[@Bible:John 1:1]] 1 {{field-on:Bible}} 在起初已有聖言,聖言與天主同在,聖言就是天主。{{field-off:Bible}}
[[@Bible:John 1:2]] 2 {{field-on:Bible}} 聖言在起初就與天主同在。{{field-off:Bible}}
[[@Bible:John 1:3]] 3 {{field-on:Bible}} 萬物是藉著他而造成的;凡受造的,沒有一樣不是由他而造成的。{{field-off:Bible}}
[[@Bible:John 1:4]] 4 {{field-on:Bible}} 在他內有生命,這生命是人的光。{{field-off:Bible}}
You can format the verse identification any way you like.
To save you the effort some Chinese bibles are already available as Personal Books. Also see the Files forum.

Thank you, Dave! I reworked the Word document following your suggestion and it seems to be working now! I will now try to complete one full chapter and check if that works too. Many thanks again! This is very helpful! [:D]

Hi Dave and all,
It's me again. I ran into another problem...
How should I write a milestone for the apocrypha text, for example parts of the Book of Daniel? When I try to upload, Logos is returning an error message like "Unrecognized milestone Daniel 3:31".
I also would like to know how to create milestones for Esther A~F. It seems "A, B, C...F" is not recognized by Logos...
Many thanks in advance.

This depends on the bible datatype of your Apocrypha:
- how many verses in Daniel 3 e.g. 33, 97 or 100
- how many chapters in Esther in addition to A thru F e.g. 1-10 or 1-16?
If you look at https://wiki.logos.com/Bible_Verse_Maps you will see various bible datatypes that could match e.g.
Esther chapters 1-10, A-F are satisfied by lxx2 and brenton (Septuagint bibles)
Daniel 3:1-33 is satified by brenton
Daniel 3:1-100 is satified by lxx2
If brenton is the best match its milestone for Dan 3:31 would be [[@BibleBrenton Dan 3:31]]
If you know the datatype that applies to all your Apocrypha so much the better e.g. you can get it from the Information page of a bible in Logos under INDEXES e.g. Bible (lxx-b) = Brenton, Bible (NABRE) = NABRE
NABRE recognises 100 verses in Dan 3, so ---> [[@BibleNABRE Dan 3:87]] and [[@BibleNABRE Esther E:2]]

Hi Dave!
Thank you for the reply. You are incredible. How do you know so much!!??I followed your advice and compared all the "unrecognized milestones" with "Bible Verse Map". It seems most of them can be resolved by using BibleNABRE, so I replaced all the "@Bible" by "@BibleNABRE".There are still about 200+ verses not following the NABRE, but they matched DR or CODEXS, so I used @BibleDR or @BibleCODEXS respectively.But when I tried to build a book based on this new document, the compiling failed. Below are the error messages I got. I am wondering if this means a document should not contain multiple bible datatypes...?[Error] Multiple Bible milestones in this resource.[Error] Error while building book: Error compiling resource.[Error] Exception: LDLS4.Panels.PersonalBookBuilderPanel. [Error] Multiple Bible milestones in this resource
You can't have multiple bible datatypes in the resource. To resolve this:
- find the single datatype for all your Apocrypha, and
- build the Apocrypha as a separate personal book (to avoid changing the datatype of the canonical books); OR
- use a different Apocrypha with a single bible datatype; OR
- split your Apocrypha into two or more personal books, each with one bible datatype
Either way you can join the separate bibles and use them as a single bible by putting them into a single Series (via their Information page).

Dear Dave and all,
Good news! I think it is almost done!
Over the past few days, I looked again over all the datatypes and tried to find one that will match the Chinese Bible I am working on. Alas, none of them does.
So eventually I had to use NABRE as the main datatype, LXX and VUL2 for a few OT books. I then put them into the same Series as Dave suggested and voila! I had my Chinese Bible!
Well, all except for Daniel 14:43...
It is truly very curious. The Chinese Bible I am working on is the so-called Studium Biblicum Version. It is the standard for Chinese Catholics. The translation was done in the early 20th century and it is said to be translated directly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek text and fairly faithful/literal. However, I checked all the datatypes on Logos, and none has a verse 43 for Daniel 14.
In order to just get the Chinese Bible working, I could of course just combine this verse 43 with verse 42. But just out of curiousity, I really would like to find out which mss was used and resulted in this verse 43. Could someone give me advice on how to get started? I would really appreciate it.
Best,
Joanna

I trust you are aware of copyright restrictions as this version is not in the public domain (according to Wikipedia) and links demand an understanding of Chinese.
