Knowledge Management: Organizing your Notes, Clippings, and Highlights

Faithlife recently announced that they are working on moving notes, clippings, and highlights to a centralized database. This is going to be a huge step forward, and should open up a lot of interesting possibilities.

One of those new possibilities is knowledge management. As this is something that would be quite new to Logos and Verbum, I wanted to make a video to illustrate how knowledge management works and why it would be incredibly powerful for anyone who uses Verbum or Logos for preaching, preparing conferences, or writing papers, articles, or books.

Imagine being able to create, within Logos or Verbum, an outline of the talk, paper, or book you are working on. You have 20 different sources you are going to read through. As you read through them, you find quotes you like, that you may or may not want to use later. Imagine if could simply pull up the outline of your talk or article, and simply check off the section(s) this quote applies to.

After having gone through your research, you pull up your outline for your article, and all the texts your highlighted, together with your notes, are already organized for you according to your outline... across all 20 of the sources you studied.

This could be just as useful for homily or sermon prep. I made a video demonstrating what this looks like in a program called Citavi, and explaining some of its possible uses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umt7zGkYkmw

    Thank you.

    Thanks Fr Devin!

At present, my topical notes in Logos are haphazard collections of highlights. I would certainly use a Logos feature like that to provide a tagged, collapsible hierarchical outline for each topic.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!
