Bug: Orange search bookmarks don't disappear from (Courses tool) scrollbar

I wanted to search the HB101 course for a particular word. Since you can't search in the Courses tool, I opened the textbook in a separate tab and performed an inline search there.
I then closed that tab (without first closing the textbook's inline search), and returned to the Courses tool. The orange search bookmarks remained visible in the Courses tool scrollbar, and I could hover over them to see the word I had searched for in the other tab.
I then reopened the textbook in a separate tab and closed its persisted inline search, but its own orange search bookmarks have not disappeared.
I have no other search tab or inline search open at this point.
Closing the Courses tool, then reopening it, makes the orange search bookmarks disappear from the Courses tool (and textbook when reopened in its own tab).
If I had to speculate, I'd guess that the Courses tool textbook is paying attention to the persisted state of the textbook's inline search (even though it can't display that its inline search is "open"), and the tool gets into an inconsistent state where its inline search is still considered "open," even though the other tab's search has since been closed.
Additional tests reveal that if I close the textbook's inline search before closing the textbook tab, the Courses tool won't persist orange search bookmark results. This inconsistent Courses tool state only seems to arise if I don't close the textbook's inline search before closing its tab.
