I believe the reason we cannot see 100% of our books on library.logos.com is that certain publishers do not allow it. It is my understanding that Logos would like for us to have 100% of our books accessible, but certain publishers have not yet given their permission to do so. Hopefully, it won't be long before we have access to 100% of our books.

I am trying to understand the business model in place.
Android now controls over half the smartphone market, Apple a little less than 30%. Android is growing quickly in the tablet market as well, and with 3.0 coming out - has a robust OS. It is not proprietary as Apple is, and yet, a year after the survey is released - and with all the promises of an app, we still don't have one, nor even a hoped for timeline.
Yet we see you revising the iOS release again.
Do you not listen to your customers?

Well I'm sure they will come up with an android app any day now. How do I know? I finally gave up waiting for one for my droid phone as I have been waiting for well over a year now and nothing. I was also hoping to be able to read my logos library on my kindle, no dice (and please don't mention the online reading, that is not a viable option). So instead of buying the android tablet I wanted, the moto xoom, I bought an ipad2. Now I will finally be able to read my logos library on the go, and I am also certain that logos will come out with an android app soon! One thing is for sure, in the gadget world, nothing stays the same.

Of course they do. :-) Here is how it fits in.
- Android is under active development, the CEO has even seen books on screen on the device. The lead programmer tweeted recently that things are moving along nicely.
- Ipod/ipad was already developed earlier for what I'm certain are good reasons.
- Concurrently the whole backend is being rewritten for the Logos display via web - as I understand it (I may be wrong though) the backend is responsible for biblia.com, library.logos.com and ipad/ipod; as well as future android implementation.
- Once the backend is completed, the frontend if ipad/ipod and android will also be completed and made available.
This is my understanding as a result of scraping through the forums for way too long. :-) But it's coming precisely because they listen to their customers. Which is ironically exactly what this thread started as - a plea for customer input.
Even though I'm certainly one of those highly anticipating android implementation (before I buy my android device) - I'm aware of at least some of the difficulties in developing an app of this nature which has to deal with security, display, sync, and so much more.

As a Logos user, Thankful Logos listens to their customers; about 5 months ago, Logos announced Android development plans. Bob Pritchett posted Android update yesterday => Re: Android/Xoom Support. Anticipating Logos announcement about Android application(s) being a few days prior to a stable version being shipped; essentially when release candidate(s) for various Android platform(s) show stable usability. Likewise anticipate future updates to Android Application(s) being similar to progress happening in iOS application, good reason to smile
Do remember Logos promising a date for initial Libronix application port to Mac, then missing that promised date by months. Also remember seeing a tantalizing screen shot of Logos Mac application in progress that was followed by many months before public availability. Now Logos does not promise a public release date that cannot be met; however "coming soon" has an unknown amount of time (ranging from days to years).
On pro Android web site, able to find sales projection for 45 % of smart phone market by 2016. Looking at recent ComScore Analysis, Android grew to 33.0 % of U.S. smart phone market while RIM shrunk to 28.9 % and Apple grew a bit to 25.2 %
Android observation: smart phone sales provide good business case for Logos application on Android smart phones. However, business case is currently lacking for Logos tablet application on Android. Business Insider noted on 31 Mar that 50 Android applications were ready for tablet use (quite different than the 65,000 applications ready for iPad use). Android tablet sales lag far behind iPad (along with similar size tablets costing more).

Thanks, Dustin. I can understand your frustration.
I think we should also consider that Android was NOT the preeminent Mobile OS until just this last year. Yes, it was growing rapidly, and perhaps Logos didn't put together enough resources for Android development early enough for you and I. And now, we know for certain it is under development ... so that is good. However, 2 years ago, the mobile OS market was a lot murkier. Who would win? Who would fail? What Mobile OS's were being used by actual Logos users? It is only natural that a for profit business enterprise doesn't want to invest a whole lot of money (on a an that is going to be basically free) if there is no payback in customer satisfaction and the possibility of increasing the customer base.
Two plus years ago they had to determine whether that mobile OS would be Blackberry, Android, Symbian, WebOS (Palm...which has almost died, but now HP is pumping new life into it...on a gamble that this great Mobile OS can establish a base), Windows 5/6 (good as dead, but which now is a new animal...and WinMo7 is useful... but perhaps too little, too late?), or would Apple continue to grow their huge lead (at the time) with iOS? All these things were up in the air at the time and it is so hard to KNOW the future!
So, since every company has limited funds, they took surveys, they watched the market, and when they thought it made good sense for them as a company, they took the plunge with Android as their next mobile OS. Could they have been faster? Hard to say, unless we were on the inside of the company seeing where resources were allocated and why. So, I am just happy that they decided to put precious resources toward a fantastic Mobile OS in Android. I do agree with one thing that I think would help Logos to better serve their customer base: They should be a little more open about their schedules, desires, and timelines. I am sure that Logos doesn't want to "commit" to a promising a product that may be found unfeasible and later scrapped. But they can make various announcements about their intentions, making note that future things may change this.
Many Logos users will make their Mobile platform buying decisions based on whether or not Logos would integrate well with their mobile (or tablet) choice. For instance, I wouldn't currently consider a WinMo7 device or a Palm/HP device or phone simply because I have no guarantee that those devices will be viable and useful for accessing my library through Logos. Now, those devices may be stellar, but it won't be useful for me unless I can get better resource access via Logos. Therefore, knowing a better timeframe for mobile/tablet OS support is important for users.

I am sick and tired of Logos, they announce that they want to give me a free gift so that I can run my 3-4,000 dollars worth of books on my android phones and now they want me to Patiently wait for them to finish it up. This is outrageous!!! How inconsiderate of them, I guess they don't care about me! I wonder if they will pay me the money back that I am losing because I can't use their free app. I wonder if there a 30 day free exchange on free apps??? What would Jesus do?
Seriously, I would lke to know how soon the new app will be out, I already went and got phones around Christmas time, but the truth is, what a great new service that Logos is giving to us, this will increase the usefulness of my library and I would have never expected Logos to be branching out like this and offering us a free app to access our libraries in new ways!
So, let me know when it is ready or I want a free refund! In fact, I want a double my money refund on my free app.

Market share is one thing, and while BB does not hold the lead, it's users aren't shy about spending money for quality applications either, which a Logos app would have to be if it was to be worth using. The BB PlayBook, while never designed to 'grab market share' is being well received, and it's size makes it an ideal reader as well, plus it is getting Android app support in an upcoming OS update according to RIM sources. Personally, I find that the BlackBerry offers what I'm looking for in a secure platform that integrates with the tablet. Of course it's all about what works for each of us.

I would be interested in hearing evaluations of running the new Logos Android App on the Blackberry Playbook. I'm not sure how well it would work but I like the idea of having my Blackberry fully work with Logos through the Playbook. I really don't have the option to switch phone providers since mine is closely linked to work. What are the advantages/disadvantages.

I did buy the iPhone expressly to be able to use the Logog moblile app, but I thought I would be able to sync it to my PC version. You know, Library collections etc...
