Serial Number for Essential IVP not being accepted.

Hi All,

I received the Essential IVP Collection today from Christianbook.com. However, the serial number that came with it is not being accepted; it goes red as soon as I type the first letter and the "next" button remains gray even after it is entered completely. (I am using Logos 3g). Is this a customer support call or is it something I can do myself?

The red is showing you that you've got an invalid number typed in. The format of the serial number for Essential IVP Reference Collection should be a series of four groupings of 5 characters each, mixed numbers and letters. I can't remember whether L3 gives you a single box to type the whole thing in or separates it into four boxes. But if the former, try leaving out the hyphens (or including the hyphens if you left them out). And look very carefully at the number on the box -- with a magnifying glass if necessary. I've sometimes confused Q's and O's and 0's. Finally, make sure you're typing in the right number into the right box. There is a serial number and there's also an activation number. Both of these are in the format XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. The serial number comes on the box and is what you type in first. If you're activating over the Internet, you shouldn't need to type in the activation number, but if you're doing it manually, you will have to type it in. The activation number is something either given you by Customer Service over the phone (when you tell them your serial number) or generated for you over the Internet when you register. If it comes to you electronically and you do need to type it in again, copy/paste it to be sure you haven't introduced any typos.

Finally, if all of this fails, maybe you've bought a used copy of the collection unknowingly (someone might have installed it already and then returned it to the distributor who resealed the box and resold it, which they shouldn't have done). Logos Customer Support will be able to tell you whether someone else has already registered using that serial number. If not, they can surely resolve the issue for you over the phone. But if you've been had, I'm not sure how much they can do about it. You might need to go back to the dealer and exchange it for an unused copy.

I had exactly the same problem about three weeks ago with the same resource. I ordered mine from Logos, so it couldn't be a matter of a used copy like Rosie mentioned. I had to call customer support--the number they gave me was nothing like the number on the CD case.

You might try an email to customer service at Christianbook.com first, depending on how soon you expect to be able to call Logos.

Quick question, is this the Essential IVP Reference collection 2.0 or 3.0 ?
Is the Logos lcon on the front in red (Libronix) or green (Logos).
Just an outside chance this is an older Logos 2 CD in which case there is a different way of getting this installed
(via a Logos 2.1 install) [different serial number format for Logos 2.0].

That might not have been the serial number. Check around elsewhere on/inside the package. These things are notorious for having the serial number hidden in weird places. I've found it on the plastic snap-in case right underneath the CD, inside the case cover underneath some installation instructions invisible to sight until you remove those instructions, on the outside of the plastic shrinkwrap (don't empty your garbage before checking for it there!), etc. Several times I've almost thought there wasn't a serial number and nearly called CS, but I finally found it.

I had the same problem last week with a copy from CBD. I called Logos tech support and they said I had to call IVP. I called IVP and they promptly e-mailed me a new serial number. Unfortunately, then I had to call Logos tech support again for them to enter the new serial number. So long story short--2 30 minute calls to logos and 1 5 minute call to IVP had it fixed. You could probably go ahead and call IVP first though. I left the number in my office or I would post it for you.
