Oh, another problem that I forgot to mention in my last post: I have installed Logos 4 on two Macs. While I used the same downloading method to install and index the Logos 4 on both computer, the two have different number of books in the library (1317 and 1316). What has gone wrong?
John,
Some users have had success deleting Logos Bible Software 4 from /Applications and re-downloading from www.logos.com/logos4mac.
That said, we've rewritten the way startup happens for A17 so that problems like this are less likely to occur, and we've added better logging for the devs so that we can track errors down more easily.
A17 should be out Monday.
Tom,
Thank you for your reply.
Are you saying that once I have updated to A17, both the logging in and library issues can be fixed? I won't need to re-download the whole thing once more, am I correct?
John
Well, technically the auto-updates are a "redownload" of a newer version, you just don't have to do it manually.
A16 had a bug that you could get eternally stuck in "Preparing my library...". A16a was supposed to fix the issue, but it appears that some people have had mixed success. For some users, restarting was all it took and everything was fine. For others, re-downloading A16a again manually after deleting the older version worked. A17 shouldn't have an issues that I know of with preparing your library/logging in, but I'll find out for sure once all our users start working with it
If you want to post your logs, we can take a look at them and give you a more confident answer based on what's going on with your install.
Thanks,
Tom

Looking at Console Messages, wonder about nlog.config file in logging folder since "| DEBUG |" and "| INFO |" not appearing:

Also noted "Logos Bible Software 4" started on 4 Apr at 10:55:25 PM, 11:38:49 PM, and 11:39:28 PM - wondering if Logos crashing or "Preparing Your Library" being closed ?
Observation: while indexing resources, "Preparing Your Library" can take hours.
By the way, every start of "Logos Bible Software 4" overwrites previous logos4.log and indexer.log files.
With 2 bootable partitions on my iMac, compared resources by writing "ls -1" output of both /Volumes/<volume name>/Users/<userid>/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Data/<random>/Resource Manager/Resources to files then used diff to compare files. Found 5 resource file differences:
< BHSWTS40.lbxlls
< DISCOVRGJHN.lbxlls
> DISCOVRGJHN.logos4
< MELTHOFONTS.lbxlls
< SEARCHBDAGHELP.lbxlls

Now that I have updated to A17 the logging seems to have resolved. However I am still missing one book from the other computer, any suggestion of what I can do?
Thanks.
Have you tried typing "Update resources" into the command bar?
I just bought another book from Logos and downloaded it on to my Macs. Yes, both Macs were able to download the new book but the 2nd Mac is still missing one book. I have tried the Update Resources command but nothing happens.
Does that mean I need to uninstall Logos 4 from the 2nd Mac and re-do the process?
Thanks Tom, that solved by problem right away! Question: Where are our actual books saved on the hard drive?
I have tried to find my help by sending email to Logos tech support without success. Is there any suggestion from the forum?
John, use the "Update Now" command, wait about 5 minutes, and then post your logs. Maybe the techs will find something to help solve the problem.
Joe,
Thanks for the advice. Attached is another log created after using the "Update Now" command.

Looks like my problem cannot be resolved before the full version is release.
