Forum editor improvement request

Is there anyway we can split the functions on the forum editor between regular and quick editing?
When I'm doing a quick response I'd rather just have a plain text entry, but when clicking reply I use the medium editor.
Of course if I could just get the media upload button on the plain text editor I'd be happy and use it exclusively.
