RefTagger Questions

Hi,

I was just on the refTagger page at logos.com (http://www.logos.com/reftagger) and when I click on the links that are supposed to open my local copy of the Libronix Digital Library and then open the linked resouce all I get is Libronix opening and the resouce (which I have unlocked in my library) doesn't open.

When I first tried it on my XP SP3 computer it asked me to choose an application to handle the request and I chose LDLS.exe. Did I choose the wrong file to handle these requests?

I'd appreciate any insight and assistance that anyone can offer regarding this. It would be nice to see it working.

If you use Opera it "just works". If you use IE8 it also "just works". If you're using Firefox you must specify the executable that will deal with the libronix protocol, and that executable is C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\System\LDLSExec.exe, not LDLE.exe.

In Google Chrome it also "just works", but each time you use it you get an External Protocol Request popup asking for your permission to launch an unnamed application, which turns out, happliy, to be Libronix. I don't seem to be able to locate a place in the configuration for Chrome to override this, so it's ugly to use in Chrome thus far.

Hi Gary,

Did you try putting the refTagger code immediately before the closing body tag in your html code for the page? I looked at the source code for the page and it's not right where Logos says to plant it. You may have to do this by hand in FrontPage - I haven't used FrontPage in eons, but I seem to remember that older versions of it like to move your code around for you, so you might want to check for that if you did put the code immediately before your closing body tag.

Other than that, nothing else is jumping out that I can see.

I *did* look at the page in question. Did YOU?

After the refTagger script ends you have a slew of ms-added "stuff". ALL OF THE FOLLOWING comes after the refTagger script ends and your closing body tag comes up. I *told* you that FrontPage sometimes moves code. Try going to your web page online and looking at the page source there, huh?
