Notes Feature Change Needed to Make Notes Useful Again

A good while back, Bob Prichett asked how we use Notes. Unfortunately, a significant feature I have utilized extensively for my quiet time for quite a while did not make it into the new version. In Logos 3, there was an outline available, that allowed me to quickly access the sub-notes in a Notes file. In Logos 4, apparently no such outline view is available. If there was an option to collapse a Note to titles, or if the outline came back, using Notes would be useful again. I use overall Notes areas (such as, "Living as a Christian") and sub-notes (such as, "Attitude," "Character," "Holiness") inside them. Displaying all of these with their content as one gigantic article forces me to scroll like a madman whenever I try to add something inside a note. The attachments should make my use clear - a collapse feature would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

This appears to be a good suggestion, but you should preface the title of your thread with Suggestion: or put it in the Suggestion forum.

Colapsable notes are in 4.0c beta (current) you should hopefully see it soon

Aternatively, have you considered using favorites?

Thanks for mentioning that - the "Compact View" of 4.0c is very close to L3's view.

The one difference, and it is a major one, is that you cannot open only one of the sub-notes, you can only have the note file completely collapsed or not at all.  This still makes using larger note files very unwieldy.

Can you at least click on a particular sub-note (no idea what the terminology is) and have that be the point where the note is scrolled to when you display details? Or can you merely see your sub-note titles, and once you come out of collapse, you still have to scroll to wherever they happen to be?

Not yet but it is early in the beta cycle. There is also considerable pressure on Logos to present notes as a table of contents - something that we do not know when and if it might be coming.

Most common terminology is "note file" with "notes" in it.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

    Dominic,

I may have misunderstood your statement, but the feature in 4.0c Beta 2 will collapse all notes in a note file or expand all notes in a note file. I have not been able to make it expand only one note at a time while leaving the others in compact view.

that is true, individual colapsability not currently present, but has been requested

Joe, It also looks like your links will no longer work in this note file, and you lost your notes formating.
