Dear Reader

I reciently purchased a 4 disk volume of a 1998 version of Logos Library System at a church yard sale for next to nothing.  I was very excited to see all the reverence and Bible versions available and thought I was really blessed.  However, when I wanted to open other disks using the basic installed portion of the set, I called the 1-888 number expecting to read a code given me by the program and recieve an unlock number from the Logos support person.  Logos said that the version I have was really old and it wasnt supported anymore.  Can anyone help me?

    What version is it? 2.0? 2.1? It is old. You won't be able to use that version to unlock anything else.

    You can install version 3.0 from this page: http://www.logos.com/support/downloads/ldls/newuser

    It should discover the licenses that were already unlocked by the older version (assuming it did unlock some books--if it didn't, then don't bother upgrading...just buy a new package).

    Then you should synchronize your licenses with the Logos servers.  I think it will ask you to create an account, or else it will ask you for an account to synchronize with.  (I don't have version 3 anymore to check). Register here is it asks for an account: https://www.logos.com/Register

    You can continue to use version 3 or install version 4 (http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe).

    New book purchases must be made either via the Logos website, using the account you created, or by calling Logos sales representatives.

    Welcome to the forums. As the support person said your version of Logos is old. I think it will be Logos 2. From what you say, I'm guessing that you have a basic Bible and some reference material.

    The Logos Library System is the older version of Logos Bible Software.  It is no longer supported. You can still find LLS Support Articles, but there are no new products being produced in this format.  LLS users can upgrade to Libronix series X engine for free.

    Clicking on the links above should take you to the relevant pages of the Logos website which may provide you with some help, though I'm not promising anything. There are a lot of articles in the LLS Support section which should point you in the right direction. The free upgrade to Libronix (aka Logos 3) may also be useful.

    Can you describe the disks or provide more details? I might be able to help if I know the particular package you purchased, but there are certainly no guarantees - especially if Logos customer service cannot help.

    As others have pointed out, you bought a version 2.0 set. Depending on which of four basic sets you purchased, you will have access to few or more resources. So you may have gotten your hopes up only to be disappointed. I suspect that these other discs contained locked material that would have had to be purchased separately. As you learned, Logos has stopped supporting the 2.0 software.

    Even though you may have gotten much less of a deal than you expected, we all hope that if you haven't dipped your toe into the new Logos 4 pool you will do so. It will cost quite a few hundred dollars to get the Scholar's Library or above, but that's where you as a pastor would want to start.

    Before you decide, take a good look around the Logos web site to see the videos on Logos 4.0, and read the computer requirements to run Logos 4.0 efficiently. There are other software programs out there, but for a pastor I don't think you can beat Logos. You can do more in less time with Logos. The investment will be well worth it over time.
