Images in L4 Mac
I have a question about viewing images in L4 for the Mac. I have been able to access my maps and infographics, but when I get them up, they are difficult to do much with. I can zoom in, but only on the center of the image, so if I want to see something on the top or bottom part of the map or infographic, I cannot. I'm guessing this is something that just hasn't been completed yet for the Mac Engine, but perhaps I'm just missing something. Is there any way yet to zoom in on a particular part of a map instead of just the center? Also, the caption of the image is incredibly large and obscures my view of the picture itself unless I shrink the picture to fit, and I can't seem to find a way to move or collapse it. Any suggestions at this point? Thanks.

After you zoom in (you can do this with the click wheel, not sure if pushing command or control and motioning as if you were scrolling would have the same result), the pointer should turn into a hand, and when you click and move the mouse it should move the image that direction. So if I click and drag down on the mouse I'm able to see further "up" on the image.

Tommy- That's exactly how I assumed it should be, but no matter how far I zoom in, the pointer never turns into a hand like it should. I can zoom in to no end, but it never gives me the option to move the image. The way you described it is exactly what I would think it should be doing, but it's not for me. Is anyone else having this problem?

How odd. Could you take a screen-shot of your mouse of an image? Could you also take a log and post it (directions linked from my signature)? Finally could you tell me what version of the Alpha you are running? It is labeled at the top of the primary application window.

Gladly! I'm using Alpha 17. Here are screenshots of both a map and an infographic:
You can see in both cases that even though I am zoomed way in, the mouse is still a pointer (not a hand) and I cannot drag the picture around at all to view it as one would expect. Also, I'm wondering if the captions are supposed to be able to be moved or closed as they tend to be overlarge and get in the way of the graphic.
I am having the same problem with viewing sheet music for hymns as well. It seems to be a problem with images in general. I'm assuming from your surprise at my problem that others are not having this problem with images in A17...?

Ok, so I was not aware you were in "Logos Bible Software Infographcs" I thought you were looking at images through like "Biblical X" or the images you see through a Passage guide. I did not take the term Infographics literally enough I guess. In the former items, one can pan after zooming, but I can confirm that this does not work yet in the aforementioned book. I'm not sure if it is a not-yet implemented feature, or if it is bug, so I have submitted as a bug.0 -
Since we are discussing images in Mac, let me offer a suggestion. I am a Bible Geography instructor and I love to use pictures and images in my teaching. I have been using the the graphics package from another software company, but one I decided to upgrade to L4 Mac because of the potential I saw in using it in the classroom.
With that said, I would very much like to request that the upper and lower panels, which appear when using Biblical places, etc, be retractable, much like a sidebar is collapsible. This would allow the entire picture or image to be seen, uncluttered by the panels above and below it. This would enable me to go back and forth from the image to the pertinent information in the upper panel.
I have posted a screen shot below for the sake of clarity. Perhaps this is already a feature in the Windows version, and thus eventually a feature in L4 Mac, but if not, then please consider.

I just noticed the word pciture in my post. I really do know how to spell the word pitcher, ---I mean, picture. Also, my post should have read, "one reason I decided to upgrade to L4Mac is because..."
I remind myself of the old line, "I used to couldn't spell preecher, and now I are one."

Thanks for your attention on this. Hopefully they can get this fixed if it is a bug. As I said, I'm not having the problem with the Infographics package alone. The same issue presents itself when I'm looking at maps, sheet music, or any other image.

The common thread between all of those is that they are "media resources." The inability to pan is a known issue, and when it is fixed for one of them, it will be fixed for all of them.

Unless it's a feature of the Windows product that I've forgotten about, it's not likely that you'll see it before the official release of 4.0 on Mac. Even with 13 developers (and an intern!), we don't have the resources right now to pursue ideas that aren't getting us closer to feature parity with the Windows version.
After we're caught up, we may be able to revisit this.
