I'm looking to find all examples in the OT and NT where the noun 'sin' is the subject of a verb.
Is there a way to do this with the bronze package?
One of the ways you can do this is via a clause search. Note that:
(1) This search type works with original languages Bibles. So you can only search the OT and then the NT consecutively but not at the same time. You can however, export all results to a passage list if you want to have all results from both testaments together.
(2) I used subject-sense because your question was formulated in terms of the English word "sin". If you are able to and want to work with lemmas, use subject-lemma: instead (of course, it requires knowing which lemmas are applicable and you can look that up in the Bible Word Study to see what Hebrew and Greek words are translated "sin").
(3) If you can only work with English (or prefer to use subject-sense), you might want to add an English Bible to the search result display. So what is being searched is still the original language but you can view a translation on the side (see highlights below).
Noticed this thread in Logos 6. Thankful for free Logos 7 Basic and Verbum Basic that has "access-only" resources: free to use, but has no effect on dynamic pricing for purchases.
Logos Wiki => Upgrading to Logos 7 shows Clause Search needs datasets that are included in Full Feature Set and above, Logos Now membership and Logos Cloud subscription. Clause Search is available in a friend's library that has Logos 4 Platinum, Logos 5 Silver, Logos 6 Core Engine, and Logos 7 Basic.
Feature comparison => https://www.logos.com/compare/feature-sets?productIds=121388,121389,120029,120030,136012,124704,124703 can show what would be New to You (personal opinion is Now membership being a bit less expensive than Feature Set purchase with caveat that features are only usable while membership is active)
Library comparison => https://www.logos.com/compare/libraries shows Lexham Hebrew Bible with Morphology is included in many libraries along with being in Logos 7 Extended Feature Set plus rentable via a Logos Cloud subscription
Using a Faithlife account with total for all orders of $ 0.00 that includes Logos 7 Basic and Verbum Basic and Academic Basic, can find original language root words for sin that are nouns:
(<Root = lbs/he/חטא> INTERSECTS <LogosMorphHeb ~ N?????>) OR (<Root = lbs/el/αμαρτανω> INTERSECTS <LogosMorphGr ~ N????>)
KJV 1900 has root word for sin translated as "faults" (along with being a direct object). Search results could be saved as a Passage List followed by removing passages where 'sin' is not the subject.
Keep Smiling [:)]
