indexing cancelled

After the Zondervan Bundle went live (last night where I live), I left my laptop to finish the download and indexing overnight. The only problem was because the new resources were so large, apparently there was not enough room to do the indexing and thus I discovered this morning that the index was cancelled due to lack of storage space on my laptop. Today I went through and cleaned off a lot of files from my laptop and thus should have enough space for the indexing.

I was hoping that once the space was available, then when I reopened Logos 4, the indexing would start, but it didn't.

My question is what do I need to do to cause the index to take place? Do I need to delete any indexing files? Do I need to "force" an index? If so, how is this done?

Thanks for the help!

Charlene

Enter "rebuild index" in the command box of the home page. See Command box in help.

That's what i thought, but just wanted to be sure that I didn't need to delete something first.

    Thanks!

On something as drastic as the indexes, you're right to want to double check.

It should have. Is your indexing now complete?

Well, that's what I thought, but it didn't.....and almost...I still have about 34 minutes left!

I'd like to know how much space you have left when indexing completes.

    Hi Dave,

I have 11.4 g free, with total space of 69.8 g (on laptop with Pentium M processor, running XP)

But, just now I went to do a search on "olive presses," to see what images would be picked up from the new Zondervan bundle, and got 0 hits from my entire library, with the message "Some search results may be missing or incorrect while your library is being indexed"!!!!! But supposedly it just finished indexing!

Also, about 2 (?) weeks ago, after downloading a new resource (can't remember which one), every time I open Logos 4, I get the blue icon in the toolbar, saying that Logos is downloading 214.9 mb (the same amount each time)...it starts downloading and gets about 23% finished and then it is done! Do you think I do need to delete some files and "start over"? Boy, I don't know if my laptop is going to last through all of this!

This sounds like an issue with Galaxie resources reported previously eg. see http://community.logos.com/forums/t/8453.aspx

The only way to be sure is start permanent logging Diagnostic Logging.

First I'd like you to delete:-

    • any files in \ResourceManager\Downloaded
    • \DownloadManager\DownloadManager.db
    • \UpdateManager\Updates.db
    • any resources in \UpdateManager\Resources

They are in your hidden \Logos4 folder. Go to Control Panel | Folder Options to view them.

Then start L4 and post both Logos4 log files to the forum (if!) after the download repeats.

    Hi Dave,

I realized that I had forgotten to disable the logging the last time when I had a problem with the Galaxie indexing!...so this is what it had in there this morning BEFORE I deleted those files.

    05544.Logos4.zip

    8231.Logos4Indexer.zip

I will delete those files now and then post those as well.

Those logs confirmed L4 was trying to download Galaxie files! Hopefully indexing will resume when you restart L4.

It did! But it slowed my computer down so much, so had to pause it for a while...will let it go full steam overnight tonight...so hopefully tomorrow it will be back to working right. I hope so. I really wanted to "play" with the new Zondervan bundle! Thanks again, Dave, for your help!

The indexing finished overnight and L4 is "back to normal." So, thanks, Dave. Once again, you solved the problem I was having! You're the man!
