Really dislike the "glow" feature on the tabs; I don't want to sound too mean but it's like this "Crystal something" game we had on the computer years ago. Very unprofessional and annoying. Gimmicky. Probably no way to shut this off?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Please expand / clarify.
And you still running Logos 5? This is no longer supported and I would recommend upgrading to Logos 7.

Are you on High Sierra (macOS 10.13) on a Mac?
This is a bug that came up with High Sierra on Macs. They haven't fixed it yet. So don't worry, it's not a feature!
If you are not on High Sierra, there is another thing it could be—Visual Cues. And you can shut these off in the Preferences. It's in the General section and is called "Show Visual Cues."
