Latest Edition of Books
Has anyone else run into a problem finding the latest edition of a book? I was looking for An Introduction to the New Testament by Carson, D. A., Moo, Douglas J. • Zondervan 2005. This is the 2nd edition. The latest is the 2nd revised edition published in 2009. I was told that it will not be available in Logos in the near future.
I need it for a class in January so I guess I'll have to buy it from Amazon. I'd rather have it in my Logos library but I have to have the latest edition.

I haven't, but yes, it is an issue from time to time. I can feel you pain, however, I want all my books in Logos!
Logos edition resources are "value added" and it is costly for FL (in terms of both time & money). If a resource changes frequently, it will be difficult for FL to keep starting from scratch on the new edition.
I have no idea how much it actually costs (plus I am not good at math), so look at it this way:
- FL agrees to sell a license for a book, with $9 going to the publisher.
- FL works on the "value added" portion of the book at a cost of $1000.
- If FL sells the book to you for $10, they will have to sell 1000 copies just to break even.
- If the publisher releases a new edition, FL will have to determine 1) Have we made enough off the book yet? and 2) Will there be enough interest in the new edition to justify the cost to create the new copy. Remember, many have already purchased the older edition and aren't in a hurry to buy another copy! Both are real concerns for the company.

I'm confused, 2005 is the date for the 2nd edition Which is the most current version. I checked Zondervan's website to confirm. And it is for sale in Logos.

I don’t know if you are right, but it appears that you may be. The Kindle version claims 2009, and is the “revised second edition edition,” whatever that means. It may simply be a revised KINDLE version, due to errors in the previous ebook version. When you click on the print copy, it takes you to the 2005 version. The publisher website lists the 2005 second edition

The ISBN for the Logos edition is: ISBN 978-0-310-23859-1 and the ISBN for the Amazon edition is 978-0310496168, so it is not just a revised Kindle edition (Edit: 978-0310238591 is the ISBN for Amazon's print edition, so now I am thoroughly confused). Yet, the "Look Inside" feature on Amazon just says "Second Edition," and the preface indicates that it is a revision of the 90's version. Weird.

When I was in school none of my textbooks were in Logos, now they are. Your textbook you need in January will most likely be in Logos after you graduate.

ISBN's are very important to check... but they can be misleading. Sometimes simply the change of cover art can lead to a new ISBN... without any changes to the content of the book.

Can you ask your professor if the edition available in Logos is acceptable? I've had professors accept 1st editions when they are using the 2nd.
