Some good news about indexing

I am in the process of purchasing a number of pre-pubs. The next three are available to me over the next three consecutive days.

Because of my concerns about re-indexing I had decided to wait until the three days were over before unlocking and installing on my desktop (used for Beta testing). However, I did install it on my laptop, which only has v3 on it.

Having activated the new book, I forgot about syncranisation. I opened v4 and discovered that it was about to start indexing again. OH NO!!!

I quickly paused indexing and unlocked and downloaded the resourse so that I would not have to re-index again and a second time.

Having downloaded the files I re-started the indexing process. I then went to a meeting expecting to have to wait 12 hours for indexing to complete.

When I returned after 2 hours, I was suprised to find out that the indexing had finished some time in the time I was out.

That is good news to me!

I have another pre-pub to activate tomorrow, which is much bigger than todays. I will try the same procedure again and seehow long it takes.

As the discussion on indexing has not been the most positive, this question may appear a little strange.

Having downloaded and unlocked a new resourse, what needs to be done to have v4 recognise the update and go into indexing mode?

    From the beta2 release notes:

    • Added “scan” command to import resources into Logos 4; type “scan c:\path\here” into the command bar and restart the app

I haven't tried it, but try typing:

    scan c:\Program Files\Libronix\Resources

    or maybe

    scan "c:\Program Files\Libronix\Resources"

I tried it yesterday and it works (The path is not correct in your comment however) I wrote it according to Beta2 release notes (C:\Program Files\Libronix DSL\Resources\here) It worked after the restart of Logos 4, it started to prepare the resources. After some few minutes it started indexing of my Library. Not long time after that my Logos 4 with the new book was ready to use, indexing continued for some 6 hours more. Logos was responsive and working at the same time.

    Synchronise your licences in V3.

Restart Logos 4 -> it syncs your licences and everything happens automatically from there...

Yes, it is good point. I just wanted to try the command since I found it in the Release Notes.

    Thanks guys

The sync licences in v3 did not trigger a re-index even after several minutes and a re-start of v4.

The "scan" command worked with the appropriate path typed in.

I am now re-indexing and will have to confirm if it worked after that.

    Thanks again

I was able to access the new resource after only 15 minutes when L4 re-started.

The resource starts with "A" - the beginning of the alphabet. I wonder if it begins with "Z" will it take longer?

I have another resource due today. I is bigger and a little further down the alphabet. I shall have to wait to test the speed on that one.
