Looking for sources on making sense of Genesis 1 vs. 2-3

I'm looking for sources that propose/evaluate different ways of accounting for differences in Genesis 1 vs. 2-3. I'm aware of several, e.g. P vs J source, G2-3 is a restatement of part of Genesis 1, etc. But looking for something that might catalogue or evaluate these.

I don't have it and cannot confirm whether it addresses your specific question (and effectively) but you might try the first volume of the Lexham guide on Genesis 1-11 since the series aim precisely at giving a catalogue of views.

I am looking not at verses, but chapters. Why is there one creation story (Genesis 1:1-2:4) followed by a second creation story (2:4b ff)? What are the various theories/interpretations that account for TWO CREATION STORIES two back-to-back?

I already have a variety of sources talking about the differences between them. I'm looking for a catalogue of interpretations explaining the relationship between these two creation stories being back to back.

Exegetical Helps on Genesis 1:1 to 12:3 has something. Unfortunately this is not widely released.

Most works out there are more concerned with arguing a particular view than giving a thorough comparative study. You may not be able to find one work that references sufficiently well each view, but probably would have to do the comparison yourself.

I recently read Matthews' NAC Commentary on Genesis, I think it does a fantastic job addressing the issue.

I am thinking that chapters 2 and 3 are not a creation story at all.

The Gen 2:21-3:24 may describe a prophecy which tells that Eve is the right wife for Adam, plus some additional prophecy. The reason is that in most non-western cultures the marriage is not just decided by humans, but they want to have some sort of supernatural sign. Then Gen 2:4b-20 just tells the background: Adam had enough cattle to pay the dowry (gave names to individual animals, not naming species, this idea is based on my experience in Africa). Of course this is just my (hyper)speculation or working hypothesis, but I just want to say that we should be more open to unexpected questions.

I recently read an excellent article on this topic by Tim Keller. His own personal belief is that the days in Genesis 1 are a literary device, and they do not need to mean 24 hour solar days, or even be in sequential order for that matter. It was a very good article. Might be worth a google search.
