General comments on A17

Obviously I don't know what's been changed under the hood, but I know my experience.

A17 takes up a lot more RAM (it's been hitting 30%+ on my 2Gb Macbook), acts a bit more sluggish, and crashes more often. I tried to copy and paste the article on "Serpent, Bronze" in the Anchor Bible Dictionary, and it crashed. I don't think it's a fully functional feature (never got that far), but just highlighting that much text and right-clicking brought it down.

I've also noticed an odd thing with the SESB 2 BHS Apparatus. When a variant is marked on the text, mousing over the letter marking it doesn't pop anything up. Clicking on it doesn't open the apparatus, but the "Cited By" tool or "Power Lookup" tool, which is very odd.

for what it's worth...the lack of popups has been reported as a bug in the Win forum...not sure if it's applicable here..

I agree that A17 has acted a bit more sluggish than previously releases. I also have a 2GB MacBook. I am happy to have features though...maybe you and I need to up the RAM...if money were no option for upgrades I would get an SSD Drive. They seem to work much, much faster and cleaner. But since money is an option, I will sit and wait patiently.

Ben, I've noticed similar problems. A17 is not only slower, but it makes my MBP run hot--even when no indexing is involved. My fans start running, so I quit L4/Mac and they go away.

But I also have trouble returning to the program after leaving it. I can click on the icon in my dock and get the beachball. Sometimes it eventually comes to the foreground and sometimes it just crashes.

Oh, and while I was writing this, L4/Mac crashed all together and I wasn't even using it. That's been happening a lot, too.

A17 gets my vote as "least favorite build so far" [:P]
