Logos 4 Crash

Hey guys -

I was having the issues with indexer that some were having, and tried every fix that was suggested, but then my computer started crashing every time it started up (no chance to even make a log file in this scenario). I wondered if it was my downloaded version of 4. I have removed it and my Logos 3 Gold Edition (at least I think I did) and now have the DVD version and am trying to load it. Indexer finally worked as did the download (714MB wouldn't work before) - however now it won't even open. Here are the logs:

Thanks a bunch - I loved the program before all the crashing started! I also need it now to finish seminary!

It looks like the Logos 4 you installed from the DVD is having trouble with data that is designed to run with a newer version. I recommend running the installer from here: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe

EDIT: Also you might want to change your Username away from your email address so spam bot can't harvest it. Use the "edit" link on the upper right hand side, be sure to click save after you've change it.

No I wasn't, thanks for the help - after a download a few weeks ago indexer would freeze my computer/

EDIT: for clarity.

Whatever database is the wrong version I cannot tell. If it's the index you could simply delete it when the program isn't running and then restart the program. That would fix the problem.

On the other hand the last thing your Log reports is the Visual Markup manager was being "created" and it fails - it's the same in both logs.

Since I'm not certain where that particular database resides (perhaps C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\randomstring\VisualMarkup\visualmarkup.db?) you can either try to delete that or just start completely over.

In which case, if you want to start from a completely blank install.

That is, uninstall L4, then delete the
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Logos4\ directory. Then reinstall from
the media of your choice.

One suggestion would be to copy the resources directory to another
location and then after the raw install "scan" it.

It seems to be working as it reloads for the 4th time in 3 weeks - thanks for the info. I could not find the appdata folder, and finally did - deleted everything else and reinstalled - here's hoping
