Look up command for words is using the iPad dictionary instead of the Logos Library - how do I get i

Today, for some reason, when I click on a word and use the “look up” command on my iPad, it is giving me the definition from the iPad dictionary instead of giving me the dialogue where it gives me the greek word and an option to do the word study. I have this problem when there is no internet or in the Logos 4 before I upgraded with some frequency. I have not experienced this on this device or on this version of Logos (currently using latest Logos 7 app).

If I click “word study” from the English word, then it does a word study on the english word and gives me greek words for that english word. however, I want to do the opposite where it gives me the greek word first and then allows me to do a word study on that greek word.

Hopefully that makes sense. I can’t seem to find a forum for this. I found similar ones, but not ones that meet the circumstances of my criteria. I do have a Logos package (closest current equivalent is the “bronze”. I bought mine in 2009, can’t remember what package I got). I have an iPad Pro 12.9 with the latest iOS updates.

Hi Phat - and welcome to the forums

I have this problem when there is no internet

Original language lookup and Bible Word Study requires an Internet connection.

If you are seeing the behaviour you describe when offline then it is currently the expected behaviour.

If I click “word study” from the English word, then it does a word study on the english word and gives me greek words for that english word. however, I want to do the opposite where it gives me the greek word first and then allows me to do a word study on that greek word.

Having said the above it wouldn't work like this when offline either.

So please clarify whether you are online or offline when trying these functions.

I have not experienced this on this device or on this version of Logos (currently using latest Logos 7 app).

Actually the iOS app isn't "Logos 7" - it is a mobile app which provides access to most of your Logos resource and some of the functionality.
