Speed test suggestions wanted

I temporarily have access to a newer PC with a SSD. Having heard how much faster these are supposed to be than a mechanical HD, I want to run a side-by-side speed test of the borrowed SSD laptop against my own 6-year-old laptop with a traditional 5400 RPM HD. I'd like to know how much faster the new machine is. (Yes, I understand there is a newer processor, etc., so this is not a well-controlled study, just a what-if exercise.)

What are some functions in Logos that would be able to demonstrate the speed differences best? A simple search? (My old computer does these pretty quickly...not sure that is enough.) Morph or Syntax search? Visual filter of some kind? Something more complex?

I am not a LN subscriber so I don't have access to those tools, but I do have the Full Feature Set for L7.

All suggestions are welcome.

Run a wildcard search * in a query for Words of Christ i.e. to return all text in all WOC (in a bible like ESV, NRSV, NIV).

A Search for 'the" in all resources (check "Match all Word Forms").

A search for God NOT INTERSECTS <Person Jesus> in all resources (or a similar search with several terms)

Also, do a command Rebuild Bible Index (it's not going to take as long as the Library Index!).

Open ESV to Rom 1:18, right-click 'ungodliness,' choose Lemma, choose This Resource-

   SSD: 0.05 seconds, 6 results in 6 verses

   HD: 0.26 seconds, 6 results in 6 verses

Clause search for subject:Adam (first man) object:ANY in All Passages in Lexham Hebrew Bible with ESV added-

   SSD: 0.27 seconds, 41 results

   HD: 0.94 seconds, 41 results

God NOT INTERSECTS <Person Jesus> in all resources-

   SSD: 2.95 seconds, 2,924,573 results in 453,562 articles

   HD:   28.68 seconds, 2,929,797 results in 454,127 articles

* in a query for Words of Christ (this search was a Mother Bear!)-

   HD: I manually stopped the search after about half an hour with no results

Here's a bit more data if anyone is following this.

I did a download and update on the two machines (one SSD, one trad HD). There was one suprise.

The HD indexed in 22 minutes and 3 seconds. The SSD took 16 minutes and 31 seconds. Not as big an advantage as I suspected.

From program start to index start, the HD took 11:00 and the SSD took 5:04.

Of the 11:00 and 5:04, the download of appx 360 MB took 3:20 on the HD and 59 seconds on the SSD. This was a surprise as I didn't know the drive type was a limiting factor on a download.

On a search, the search time for me is irrelevant (my searches). It's the display time. It's not unusual for me to kill Logos.exe since the dispay-results routine doesn't appear to have an interrupt (which is Logos-normal).

Does the SSD vs HD comparison speed up multi-page display or is that strictly video?

Logos can bottle up in a number of places, but most of the time it is Disk I/O which is why SSDs are so often recommended here. On an older system though, you could also see hiccups because of Memory maxing out or CPU, which is what it sounds most like in this case. Graphics card is the last suspect as the requirement aren't that high on the GPU. If you wanted to find your bottlenecks, you could run Windows Resource Monitor and GPU-Z, use Logos for a bit, and then check the graphs to see what is pegging out.

You were right, it was max'ing the RAM, which I assume then went to paging. I restarted Logos, which cleared half of RAM (normally Logos has about 15%). Search went considerably faster.
