In Logos 3 I could remove resources from my hard drive that I didn't use (for example: I do not use the Cairo Geniza Targumic Fragments). Is there a way to do this in Logos 4?
Thanks

Thanks MJ. I appreciate it.
What I don't understand is why I have to download the resource first and then 'hide' it, which effectively deletes it and makes it unavailable unless I unhide it.
This is almost, but not quite, exactly the functionality that those who want to control what is downloaded have been asking for and that Bob says will never be implemented.
Surely, at the time of purchasing and initially downloading a package/big set of resources this choice could be offered to the end user - It would have saved me hours (and £££ in bandwidth charges). I understand that Bob doesnt want to support out of date resources, but a have it or do not have it option, up front, is surely the way forward...

Well, that puts a layer of administration between you and your choice to "not download". I can understand that the most flexible option was for that to happen in the application where you can see that the resource(s) are not what you want. In my case the hidden resources are about 200 MB (0.2 GB) of a total 7.5 GB, which has little affect on the download budget.

In my case it was several gb's worth - I have no use for most of the images/maps/woodcuts(!) etc. And I knew it when I ordered the crossgrade.
I'm just saying that, for me, the user experience would have been vastly improved had I had control over the download of resources. The fact that I had to download these and had to pay extra bandwidth charges to get them when I knew I didn't want them was somewaht frustrating... OK - I'm happy that I can hide them and prevent having to redownload them when Logos gets upgraded. But why not be able to make that choice upfront?
We went through several phases during the evolution of Logos4 (secret Beta). I disliked the large image files which changed a couple of times and my download budget was threatened a few times. Then we arrived at the ability to hide resources. But there is a total of 1 GB of system files in the Resources folder that cannot be hidden (they do not appear in Library) of which the Biblical People/Places/Things files is about 420 MB. The media and map resources of which you speak are also quite large, but can be hidden.
The next large download will occur with 4.0c - reverse interlinear bibles with full view interlinear displays > 1 GB. This will have to be managed unless users choose to hide some of them ie. it is an update to resources which most people do not choose to hide.
Dave: sounds like there will be a lot of good upgrades in 4.0c. when will it be released for the community? Is there a target date?
Patrick,
As far as the image files, Dave was talking about the pre-public beta before 4.0 came out - fun times!
But yes there are some good things coming 4.0c. We're still testing and finding /killing bugs and it's pretty early (beta 3 I think) I believe there will be many more features added before 4.0c makes it to gold (no longer beta).
You can see the beta progress in the PC Beta forum and see the features and bug fixes in the wiki. (See link at top of page)
Is there a way to hide multiple resourses all at once?
Rodney - Unfortunately no, there is no way to hide multiple resources at once. This is a source of aggravation for many, and Logos is aware of the situation. We are hopeful that Logos will remedy the situation in a future release, but we have no timetable for when that may happen.
