Often different chapters within a given resource are written by different authors. Am I able (for example) to search everything written by D. A. Carson, including entire books and individual chapters/sections?
I don't think so, no.
Provided the resource text is marked with an “Author” field, you can use the search author:D.A.Carson.
This may be a bug, but the author of Mark in New Bible Commentary, Cole, R.A, is part of an Article Citation on its Info page but author:cole has no result for thiscommentary. Similarly for authors of other bible books in the Commentary.
I am seeing the same issue Dave. I am looking at "Clem. Al., Misc. 1.5" in "Ante-Nicene Fathers 2: Fathers of the Second Century: Hermas, Tatian, Athenagoras, Theophilus, and Clement of Alexandria (Entire)". The "Article Citation" has author={Clement of Alexandria} but a search for author:"clement of alexandria" does not return this resource. I do note, however, that it returns results from within the "Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture" series...
