Greetings all!  I am really excited to finally be getting my high end computer late Sat!  I have read all the post about how to reinstall...yet I guess I am still an oldie goldie and like to watch the programs install.  I am planning on installing all of my Logos 3 software and synchronize the licenses, then install L4.  I realize that I should install L4 from the server since it will be the latest and greatest.  I haven't had any issues in L4 with this computer by God's grace  ( Desktop,P4,2.53 gig cpu,2gigram,and 512nvidia card) only the fact that it is really slow.  Yes, I have already seen all the post and have done the tweeking and still takes almost 3 min to load.  I am paranoid that what some people have gone through with L4 when I install this program!  Will let you know asap how everything goes...Thanks Logos for all the great Bible software that helps me so immensely...and if you knew me, it would be obvious that I need all the help I can get!

blessings,

danp

    Some thoughts:

    1. Sync your licenses before you turn off the old machine for the last time - then L4 will be up to date.
    2. Do install L3 before you install L4 - but you do not need to install all the books.  Just install those that you need to use with features in L3 that you make use of that are not yet available in L4.  This insures that L4 will overwrite the registery so link open the L4 interface rather than the L3 interface.  Do not install L3 after L4 - that will leave L3 as being your default application.  However, you can install additional books without problems.
    3. If you have L2 books, install those now - some of these (e.g. the Oxford Bible Dictionary) are not available in L4 natively, though L4 can use the book files you own.
    4. Install L4 - it will pick up the earlier sync that you completed in step 1 download all available books.  You will still need to go through the time needed to index unless you follow one of the shortcuts that have been published in the forums.

Others may have better advice, but I have found this works well and saves time if you do not want to go through the process of doing a complete install of L3.  This has been my experience, but I know sometimes I jump to conclusions and find out too late that they are wrong - wait and see if any other comments are made.

    Blessings,
    Floyd
