At least when I launch, I can tell it to not install the update. This symptom has happened before on several occasions when there are new updates.

I have tried run as admin (though my login is admin).

main computer Lenovo k430 - latest updates for win10 installed. As mentioned, at least I can run my software without the update this time, so not dead in the water (on this computer). It is a bit disappointing that this keeps happening, though...

After talking with a developer, this looks like an issue specific to your computer. The best thing to do is to connect with Customer Service so that they can take a look at your machine and try to diagnose the problem.

i'll call today. this has been an ongoing issue - every time there is a big update, the symptom is fixed for that update, but there is no root cause analysis, and it continues the next time.

on hold again. the customer service is a very nice lady, but I have already tried all this. (I do not want to uninstall/reinstall, that takes days - literally) she finally making a ticket.

It may be the only way to avoid the recurring issue. But you can avoid downloading resources if you use this procedure. Save your resources before uninstalling. After uninstalling, delete the \Logos folder, then reinstall.

I was stuck at 7.8 but everything that I use was working fine so I put off 'complaining'. On windows if you right click an icon it lets you run the program as admin. Am now at 7.11. Thanks for posting about running as admin.

I've sent Tech Support some information about what I suspect is causing this. They may need remote access to your machine next time you call in.

if I call them back. I am very disappointed right now. The tech said I had a corrupted profile and that he couldn't help and if I didn't make a new profile and install l7 there, there was nothing he could do. I was to install with the new user, then copy some subset of folders back to the real/original profile location/URL.

I made a new profile and logged in. it took 2 hours to login and updated before I could even go to the website and download the installer. I am now installing and as I suspected, it will take until tonight late sometime before it is done downloading resources. then it will take a day at least to index. I missed the link someone posted about being able to skip the download or resources.

decided to stop the download and go back to my real profile login. I uninstalled Logos, and now can't install it from the executable. same error, now I have nothing.

Can you navigate to “Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders” in regedit and paste a screenshot of everything you see there?

Also, it would be incredibly helpful if you enable logging, run the setup, and upload your DigitalLibraryInstall.log log file.

Please go ahead and close the ticket. (sent email reply as well) I was able to get it running (so far) before I saw the message on the forums. I needed to make this go before this (Saturday) evening.

Reluctantly, I went ahead and created a new profile to try to install Logos. It was working, but when you have over 14000 resources, it was going to take a long time to complete. I need to use the software more than I need to wait and spend time troubleshooting, and I don’t expect you all to wait for that process either.

Once I knew it was at least working (it was indexing, and it allowed me access to resources), I went ahead and logged out of that profile, and re-logged into my real login/profile. I uninstalled logos and tried to install. It would not install giving the same error: (untitled)

I then deleted any remaining logos folders under

C:\Users\Brent\AppData\Local

There was a logos folder and a logos5 folder. I removed both of them completely. Before I started the install again, I scoured the registry to remove any sign of logos there as well. I did not track the details of this; it took a long time.

After I rebooted and re-logged into my real/current profile, I started the installer again. It seemed to allow me to run it this time. It is currently in the process of downloading resources.

it works. And my wife uses it on her laptop, instead of loading all the resources taking up most of her free space. She likes it a lot, but really only does simple searches and pulls up a Bible version and maybe a dictionary or commentary. I have used it in situations when I don't have my computer with me, and am borrowing a computer or device and need to "work" in my Logos system (and there is internet available) - but that rarely happens. The above computer is my main study/research/school computer in the home office.

my "Bible" is the computer I use to "cram" for sermons and to preach from (messages that I prepared on the main computer). My church-office computer, that I carry with me to my secular job to work with as well. It is a tablet PC (not a tablet device), and also has full win10x64 and full install of my L7. Logos is it's primary purpose, though I have Office loaded as well. Logos 7 being the primary purpose is why I call it my Bible, or sometimes my portable library. I don't try to use the website more often, mostly because there are too many places that I do "work" and don't have internet access.

I have been using Logos since the beginning when it came on a stack of floppy diskettes. I have been using a "Bible" (above paragraph explains) since the very first tablet PC's were available (The rugged HP one I had for several years was portable, but was very thick and weighed a lot - Windows XP with proprietary touch extensions). that to say that I have spoiled myself in having full use and access to the Logos-power on a portable computer.

BTW - not sure how many hours it's been on this computer - main computer, but it is still downloading resources once that happens, maybe tonight, then the indexing will continue for the full set of resources; I don't expect that to complete until Monday sometime.

Logos used to have data-DVD's available where it had all (most?) resources available when you needed to reinstall from scratch. but I haven't seen where that is a thing anymore. However, having a USB with all resources available, and being able to choose to copy from there instead of online - would help a lot! I am glad I have an ISP plan that doesn't charge extra for throughput! I would never be able to even load Logos.

Appreciate "Bible" on tablet. Thanks for curiosity insights. Thankful for Web App improvements, which includes Notes being revamped.

Prison ministry does not allow volunteers to use electronic devices so also have printed Bibles (albeit my primary study "Bible" is a MacBook Air).

didn't want to take the chance of a file or folder being at partial cause for the intermittent symptom. every time I called support (twice this year for this reason) the symptom/issue was fixed, but no root cause analysis. I chose to start from scratch and hope that it is resolved, rather than guess and have it come back again.

semi-update... It finished that download, and so I restarted Logos. Currently only about 4000 resources have loaded. I entered the command to check for updates. it now says more downloading...
