What is sorted by 'rank' and how can I stop it?

Hi.

I cannot work out the algorithm for 'sorted by rank'. Is there a rational behind it? All I do know is that it NEVER gives any useful results. 'Useful' is sort by recent, possibly sort by rating.

Whenever I filter, or edit a filter in the library, the app switches to a different sort schema and overrides the one that I had already selected. This bug was still not fixed in the most recent overhaul of the app. Is there a switch to turn it off?

Rank is a user supplied zero to five “stars”. I only apply it rarely using the desktop application. I don’t know how it is applied using the iPad app itself. Click on rank and choose a more useful sort, recent or most frequently used.
