I cannot load the app on my device shown above. The old app worked just fine but alas I removed it from the device. Can I have my old app back until you make this app compatible with the Dell Venue8 8340?

Hi Bob, I don't have a link for the previous version APK and hopefully someone will for you. But I can tell you that the problem with the Venue is that the version of Android is too old. So I very much doubt that the app will be made compatible for it in the future. I had a Venue too and just bought a kindle fire for the very same reason.

I bought one, too. Amazon still has the Fire HD 8 for 50 USD on the US site as of this writing (reg 80 USD). Logos Mobile V6 is directly on the Amazon app store. It works really well, so far. This one has the "special offers" thing, but all that means is there will be ads on the lock screen, which I ignore, anyway. The annoying home screen ads ('suggestions') can be turned off in Settings.

Someone from Faithlife might correct me on this, but I don't think you'll be able to get 5.17 back, ever. If I'm not mistaken, a programmed kill-switch will prevent re-installation, even though you can probably find the old APK on the internet. I read in one of the official posts that re-installation would not be possible. And, as Francis noted, V6 won't be made backward-compatible.

[EDIT]  For others who have bought a Fire tablet and can't find certain apps via Amazon apps, here are instructions for side-installing the Google app store, which I needed to get Chrome:  https://www.howtogeek.com/232726/how-to-install-the-google-play-store-on-your-amazon-fire-tablet/ . It works fine.
