How big of a download is L4.0c??

My desktop computer is woefully near capacity on the C drive. I have 29GB free space left. I am wondering if the Logos 4.0c release will give me a problem after download and indexing starts.

Any recommendations? Am I being overly concerned? I cannot move many resources to my second drive since they are all applcations that like to reside on the system drive. I will be upgrading the drive in May but didn't want to get hit before then with a download it can't handle.

Also, do we know what features will definitely be included in the next release?

I wouldn't be overly concerned with 29GB of free space still left, that is still a more than decent "cushion". I understand that the biggest size aspect of 4.0c is the full Reverse Interlinears. You shouldn't be talking much more than 1.5GB for those.

Also, do we know what features will definitely be included in the next release?

So far: the RIs and Verse Lists are the biggest items. There are also custom hotkey assignments for highlighting styles, self-test/courseware capability, and I believe some improvements to note sorting capability.

Matthew, I just got a new laptop and I'm in the midst of a whopping 11.37GB download for my whole library. I understand that during indexing that could essentially double (swap file etc...) That would still leave you with a "small" cushion.

Oh, so the swap file just about matches the original library? I thought the swap file needed during indexing was an additional 2x the original library, equalling a total of 300% of the library. I guess it doesn't matter because I'm not looking at a full install. But when somebody does do a clean install, would a 10GB library not need 30GB of free space to install?

My imagination brings back memories of the "bus station" scenario from assembly programming the register. [|-)]

There is nothing worse than an overtaxed swap file.

Matthew, I'm not sure - just going off my sometimes faulty memory.

If My download ever finishes I'll take a look and let you know.

My hard 251GB drive had to be scrubbed this week. Pretty sure a viruscrept into my well fortified machine. Fortunately I have an extra HD (but only 40Gb). I tried putting just windows and Logos 4 on it. NO WAY. Could not do downloads and indexes. If it had worked I was going to use the big drive for documents etc and all the other programs.

the requirement to have L4 on C with Windows is a MAJOR "bummer."

We will now have a drum roll for all the software thieves who forced logos to embrace this "frustrating" idea.

Anyways I've been able to format -install operating systems etc while trying to keep a day job -- Logos will have to wait in line with the rest of the software...

But with some of the tales of woe for Beta 4.04 perhaps this is a good time to "pull; back"?

The good news--my large drive has LOTS of space now!
