Updating Collection

One of my collections is my favorite resources that I have given a rating of 4 stars or higher. Presently I have 494 resources in there. My string is: rating:>4. I was going through my library and rating some other resources as 4 stars or higher, but it did not change my books in that collection. I rated two or three additional books and when I went into the collection it still said 494 and when I dragged one of the books that I knew I had rated 4 stars or higher it then changed to 495. So why did it not automatically add that resource to my collection?

If Show Community Ratings = YES (in Program Settings) it will impact rating:>4. If you want only your ratings to affect the selection then use myrating:>4

So why did it not automatically add that resource to my collection?

It should be added automatically, but it won't be instantaneous.

First, your Library Catalog needs to be reindexed. While this is happening, a yellow bar will be displayed across the top of the Library window, saying something to the effect that results may be incomplete.

Once that happens, your collections will be rebuilt. The time to do this will vary by the number and complexity of collections you have. This usually takes less than 20s, but I've seen log files from customers on older computers with lots of “author” collections that show it taking a couple of minutes.
