Android Mobile App on New Kindle Fire 7" and 8"

Has anyone tried using the current Android Mobile App on the new Kindle Fire 7" with 8 GB internal storage or the new Kindle Fire 8" with 16 GB internal storage--both with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor?

I have an older 8.9" Kindle with a much nicer/higher resolution screen and 16 GB internal storage, BUT ...it uses an old version of Android as the base for its Kindle OS. Logos no longer supports that older OS and I'm finding more and more Logos resources (even simple monographs) that the Logos Bible app won't even download for basic reading on this older Kindle unit. Very frustrating, but such is life it seems.

The two new Kindles I'm asking about are pretty inexpensive, but I'd rather not mess with a purchase and then download of the Android app if these units don't handle the app or perform poorly when running it.

If anyone has experience with either of these devices (or even the new 10" Kindle for that matter), your comments would be much appreciated.

I bought two of the 8s a couple of weeks ago, and so far, they work fine with the new revision of the Logos Android app, I put external SD cards in them because I had the cards; I don't know if they're ultimately going to be necessary.

I bought the new 10-inch one a few days after it came out. It's not as fast and fluid as my previous Ipad mini, but definitely isn't slow. I love the aspect ratio. Turning it sideways and having books side-by-side works perfectly on that size.

Hmmm... as stated in my original post, the only reason I'm looking at a newer tablet is that for the past 12-24 months, I've been finding more and more Logos resources that won't load on my 8.9" Kindle Fire HD, PLUS the last couple of versions of the Logos mobile android app wouln't load on it because the version of Android used as a base for my Fire HD is no longer supported by the Logos mobile app.

As I understand it, the new Logos mobile Android app requires at minimum, Android 5.0 (a.k.a. Lollipop), so I did a little research on the version of Android used as a base for the newest Kindle Fire devices. Sadly, while the newest version of Android is version 8 (a.k.a. Oreo), the newest Kindle Fires are still using Android version 5 as the base Android OS that the Fire OS sits on top of. So, I can't help but wonder ...since the newest Fires are already using the oldest Android version Logos supports, how long will it be before the Logos Android mobile app no longer works on these newest Fires and I find myself back to square one. [:S]

I asked myself that, also. I replied back to myself that Kindle FIres (particularly in a good sale) are near-commodity-priced. So, I have a highly functional Samsung G-Tab 4 7" that I chose to retire because Logos (and others) dropped support and I didn't want to go through the hassle of rooting and upgrading.

Android 5.0 is used by about 1/20 of all active Android devices; 5.0 and 5.1 together are a little over 1/4 of the market. Faithlife advertises its app in the Amazon app store. I highly doubt that Faithlife will cease supporting whatever the latest generation of Kindle is running (presently a fork of 5.0) any time soon. Ticking off large numbers of customers who have no way of upgrading their software or hardware would be very unwise.

You should simply download the app from whatever app store your device uses. Log in with your username & password and download the resources you want.
