Does anyone use Logos Android App on e-ink reader?

I am considering getting an e-ink tablet reader that allows apps from Google play, etc.

I am interested in reading my Logos books on the e-ink reader. I realize the app is not optimized for e-ink, but I just want to read the books, not do deeper study with it.

I just wonder if anyone else is trying this, and if it is workable. If so, which tablet would you recommend?

I think your choices are pretty limited. This topic is discussed frequently, but the devices are expensive and often only sold "across the pond."

Thanks. I haven't been keeping up with discussions lately.

There are devices that cost in the $125 to $150 range that offer android apps. You are right that they often from across the pond, but available through ebay and amazon.

Some of them run Android 4.2 or 4.4. None I have seen run Android 5 or above. That may be a problem.

I just wonder if they would work to read Logos books. I am not looking for all the functions of the app. Though I think this is an area that Logos ought to consider serving.

Have you read Mark Barnes tutorial on exporting to Kindle? It isn’t too difficult and is a good option if your goal is just to read.

I've tried an Android e-ink tablet. I have ended up never using it, however, because the performance is simply awful. The Logos and Verbum apps require too much processing power for them to handle it well.

So... if I want to read a book on e-ink from Verbum, I export it to Kindle, which is a bit tedious but usually only requires 5-10 minutes of work to do a book well.

If more powerful e-ink devices are produced in the future I might give them a try again.

Actually, Onyx Boox is releasing a new series of e-ink readers with a lot more processing power and up to date Android.

The premium model MAX2 is already available (at a whopping 800 Euro, almost $1000!)

It has a 13 inch screen, a quad core processor and Android 6.

I've seen multiple accouncements for new devices by Onyx Boox. I suspect they're refreshing their entire portfolio. So there is a good chance for more affordable models to be released very soon.

Edit: I've just noticed that the Onyx Boox Note (10 inch screen) is available for pre-order at 550 Euro (almost $700).

As for me, I'm waiting for a 6 to 8 inch device. A 10 inch screen is still too large to carry around all the time (AND $700 is quite costly...)

Justin, I think you are correct for now, my best option is export to Kindle. I do prefer reading on my e-ink device, and more doing more serious study on my laptop.

Jan, I also hope that a more reasonable (sub $200) six inch option is soon available. I would buy one.

I also noticed that these two devices have no SD slot (however, they do have 32 GB of internal memory).

Whereas that is plenty, my current library is already has a size of 31 GB. And if I pay a premium price for a high end reader, then I want to be able to put my entire library on it, which means, either an SD slot or 64 GB of memory are a hard requirement.

So let's wait what else Onyx is gonna release.
