The title is a little eye-brow raising. But it speaks to the curiousity of a pretty wild jewish pseudepigrapha, Qumran ascetics, and then a tight Torah/Talmud later on. How so? And then trying to figure out 'who' Paul was talking about, and who the Acts writer was talking about (Paul/James). Only to find James popularized by the jews.

The book was published last year; and Kindle is quite affordable. John Collins is well represented in Logos. com. He tends to specialize in apocalyptic; Daniel, Enoch, etc.

DMB did you ever get this book? What did you think about it? I have seen it cited before and it looks to be well engaged in the literature. I have it on hold at my local library.

Thoroughly enjoyed. Demands multiple reads. As in earlier threads, I was interested in the Persian period ... the curiousity of trying to get the jews to 'go home'. But Collins is pretty tight on his evidence ... this volume more so, than his apocalyptic ones.
