iOS: Jump To Reference - Multiple Tabs

I'm not sure if there's a setting I'm missing or if this is just the way it works...but I generally have multiple tabs open - each with their own Bible for reference. So for example I have Bible Study/Bible, Devotional/Bible, Study Notes/Bible. That way I always have a Bible attached to my topic

But anytime I click within a book or note a hyperlink to another reference and "Jump to Reference" it will always jump all the way to tab #1. It's very annoying to jump back and forth between tabs, I keep a Bible open in each tab so I can do all of that work within one tab

Is there a setting where I can change that or is it just the way the app works?

I use an Android device. My layout is  ESV Bible, BKC Commentary, LEB Bible (3 tabs)

In a bible the jump occurs within the bible - use Back button to get where I was. I like this even though different to desktop behaviour.

From the commentary, it jumps to my preferred bible - it will even create a tab for it. So this mimics desktop behaviour.

You need to clarify your layout:

    • 3 split tabs with a bible in each?
    • do you have the same bible in each tab?
    • is one/all your preferred bible?

I find it will jump to the first ESV if I have multiple ESV tabs. So I'm guessing you have the same bible (your preferred) in each split tab.  If so it could be smarter and use the preferred bible in the same tab when jumping from the other resource.

I can confirm this is problem... and that it is very irritating.

Let me give an example to explain further how this works. Imagine I have three tabs. The first tab has a Bible and a Commentary. The second tab is an Original Language Bible. The third tab is a book I'm reading and a Bible.

If I'm on the third tab reading the book, and I tap on a Bible reference in the book to take a look at it in context, the expected behavior would be that the Bible that is on the same tab as the book navigate to the reference.

That, however, is not what happens.

Rather, the app takes you all the way to the left, to the first tab, and navigates THAT Bible, even though that Bible is the farthest away. Then you have to swipe back to the third tab... and really think hard before you dare look up another Bible reference.

    Agreed on both points!

I have reported this at https://community.logos.com/forums/t/153538.aspx and elsewhere but no indication yet as to whether it will be changed.

I find it will jump to the first ESV if I have multiple ESV tabs. So I'm guessing you have the same bible (your preferred) in each split tab.  If so it could be smarter and use the preferred bible in the same tab when jumping from the other resource.

Yes - I think Dave's analysis is correct.

This will be fixed in a forthcoming update, the link should be opened in the current tab if possible.

the link should be opened in the current tab if possible.

.."if possible" meaning it will use whatever bible is in the current tab, or only one's preferred bible which may be in another tab (re. behaviour stated above that a tab is created for preferred bible)?

Dave, this will apply specifically to the preferred bible being opened in the current tab. There are some other enhancements that we are working on that I think will help address the more general situation where there is a non-preferred bible open in the current tab.

, this will apply specifically to the preferred bible being opened in the current tab.

Then it implies that the bible could be opened in the current tab provided it is not already split, irrespective of the bible being open in another tab.  So there should be an option to open it in a new tab or the current tab (if possible) e.g. where my only open resource is a study bible.
