Why should the Logos app not have the NIV when many others do?

Dear Logos,

Can we please have the NIV (including the Anglicised edition) for the iphone/itouch. There are many iphone apps that include the NIV so why not Logos? It would be MUCH APPRECIATED.

EDIT: As a response to "Make NIV Available on I-phone/I-pod touch"

"This is 100% out of our control. We don't own the
NIV, and need permission from the people who do. We are doing everything
we can to get them to give us permission. (Well, everything short of
criminal threats! ... But this suggestion notes that the omission is
"inexcusable" and the "how" is beside the point... maybe we're not
    trying hard enough! <smile>)"

Hi I know your fairly new, but please consider using search feature.. .. it is there to see if there already is an answer to your questions...

searching iphone and NIV brings up 3329 items, including this.. Enough please..  can someone please add a sticky to the forum stating current situation/position.

You know, I've not researched each thread to know if this question has been answered already or not.  Bob doesn't answer the OP's question and I'm unaware if anyone else has yet either.  If others have obtained the rights to use the NIV in their software, why can't Logos.  Now, I don't care either way as it isn't an urgency for me at this point, but the answer to the question may not be something that Logos wants to discuss openly with us...and that's their prerogative.  Of course, curiosity is killing me, but if God's patient with me, I can be patient with Logos/Bob and give them/him some grace.

Don't be fooled by my low post count, it's only because I've changed my email address that my counter is  as low as it is - I've had well over a 100 posts under my old address, I hope you will forgive me but your tone is rather arrogant and assumes that I didn't search prior to posting. I did but in my view the question wasn't precisely answered. I still don't understand why other apps can offer the NIV when Logos can't? I understand it must be due to some sort of licence restriction but of what sort? The NIV is my daily bible of choice and it is rather frustrating not being able to follow my reading plan on iphone as I would like, and so without being ungracious I don't think its inappropriate to ask the searching question.

I agree that a sticky to the forum would be helpful, but like Michael's subsequent post I greatly value Logos and know that  Bob is wanting the best for us all.

Steven, When I first saw your post, I will admit that I wondered why you had not made a search as well, since this very question has been asked often, even several times a week.  You say that you did and I am not going to go any farther with that... if you did, then you did.  Here is what we have been told.  the publisher as owner of the book must first give Logos permission to make the Iphone version available and as of yet, Zondervan has not give this permission to Logos.  they have given it to others but for what ever reason, they have not given permission to Logos, so we do not have the book.  Logos does not have the authority to make them give permission, so we as customers are kind of stuck on this... wanting, but waiting.  I personally have found that NKJV and ESV are both available and give me an even more accurate translation, so I am no longer missing this bible.  In fact, I have grown to like the ESV so much that I have ordered CPH's electronic form of it. I hope that this explains what and why we don't have the NIV on our phones.

Thank you for the information. In the time that I had for searching I didn't spot what you have just outlined. I too like the ESV and have been using it (I haven't tried the NKJV to the same extent!) but even so I still prefer the NIV which is why I would like to use it. But thanks anyway..

Ps.  I wonder what the NIV 2011 will look like?
