I have not had an update for almost two months. I am still running Alpha 16 and it tells me there are no updates available. How do I update to 17 and 18?

Two other things to check:
1) If you got to the About page from the menu, check what your Update Channel is. It should be set to "beta". If it is not, enter "Set Update Channel to beta" in the command bar.
2) Open Program Settings (aka Preferences) and make sure that "Use Internet" is set to Yes, as well as "Automatically Download Updates" is set to Yes
