New: Beta test the new Notes tool on desktop
Attention web app users! Looking for a way to access your web notes in the Logos Bible Software desktop application? Join the Notes Tool Testers group on Faithlife.com to get early access to the next generation of notes on the Logos desktop software.
NOTE: This does NOT import your previously-existing Notes documents from Logos desktop and mobile applications.
Please join this group if:
- You enjoy testing and providing feedback on new products and features.
- You use both the web app and desktop versions of Logos, and you want a way to create and find notes on both platforms.
We are developing the Notes tool on app.logos.com first, so there may be some lag while we implement new changes on the desktop app.
What works:
- Make a new note.
- Browse and filter your notes by automatically-tagged facets.
- Organize your notes in Notebooks.
- Offline access (as of 7.13 beta 2).
What doesn't work (yet):
- Notes-tool notes and highlights do not yet display in your resources on desktop. (For example, highlights you create on selected text won't appear to be working, but you if you check the resource on the web app you should see that the highlight exists.)
- Notes-tool and note documents are separate. Notes created in a note document will not appear in the Notes Tool, and vice versa. Information on migrating your existing notes will be coming in the not-too-distant future.
Risks:
- This should be treated as beta software, especially if using the beta update channel on the Logos desktop application, and as such we recommend using a dedicated testing machine or VM.
- You do NOT risk losing any of your existing Note documents. As stated above, the notes you create using this tool are stored separately from your existing note documents. Soon, it will be possible to import your previous/existing notes into the new tool.
Logos version 7.12 is required; the current beta is recommend to get the latest features.

Hi Adam,
I had to reinstall Win 10 the other day and the only option was to reformat the drive first. I used a third party program to retrieve my old notes file. The Logos 7 reinstall is working now but won't read my old notes file when I try to copy it into the appdata/local/../notes folder. Do you all have a notes reader program I can install to see if I can get my old notes back. For some reason, Logos was not syncing my laptop stuff with you all for over a year and when I re-installed, that year's worth of notes was gone and I would really like to get it back. I sent logs, etc to the tech guys and don't know why the sync wasn't working but that's a different issue now that the Logos 7 reinstall is up and working. Any help to even open up that file so that I can copy and paste the notes from the past year would be greatly appreciated.

Suggest contacting Tech Support about application Notes => https://www.logos.com/contact
Logos application uses many database files (with relational connections between files). For example, all highlights are notes, which are connected to highlighting palette(s) and style(s).
For trying to recover Notes, personally would be inclined to try => Quick Installation onto multiple computers Method 1 OR Method 2
Caveat: if sync issue has data cause, quick installation may recover Notes along with sync issue.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Hi, Kenneth,
I'm sorry to hear about your technical trouble. I'm sorry, we don't have an independent reader application for notes. If you have a copy of your old Logos/Users folder, I agree with KS4J that Method 2 is probably your best option to restore your notes. If not, please send your note.db file to me, and I'll see if there is anything we can do to restore it.

I followed the Method 2 instructions but kept getting the message that Logos 7 is already installed when trying to install per Method 2. Attached is a copy of my old notes file. Hopefully you can copy and paste all the Ruth, I Cor, Monarchs and Prophets text in the file and send in a notepad/or simple .txt file. Thanks much for your help.

Well, I hit the send button too soon and the file didn't attach. Then when I tried to attach the file to this post, I got your warning that your files with a .db extension aren't allowed. Is there any other way to get you the old notes file?
