A Deeper Dive into the words

The basic tools like Strong's tell us of words that are derived from combining two (or more) words to create a new word, but it does not really go very deep into explaining the origin and the full meaning of those individual subwords.

Looking to dive deeper into these studies I wanted to ask you what books would you recommend to do a deeper word study in Logos 7.

Beyond Lexicons such as the BDAG/HALOT Bundle, I find dictionaries to be quite useful for going deeper in a word study. The New International Dictionary of Theology and Exegesis: Old and New Testament (10 vols.) and Eerdmans Theological Dictionary Bundle (TDOT/TDNT) (25 vols.) have proven their worth to me in this area.

Also, don’t forget to utilize the Bible Word Study where all of this information is pulled together in one location for you.

Some discussion lexicons to consider:

New International Dictionary of Theology and Exegesis: Old and NewTestament (10 vols.)

Lexham Theological Wordbook (Concept followed by corresponding original language words)

Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words (English words translated from original language)

Theological Dictionary of the New Testament (TDNT) (10 vols.)

A Greek–English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature, 3rd ed. (BDAG) BDAG has extensive definitions, which may include verse reference.

Yes, when a resource is open that has lemma headword (or Strong's #), can click "+" for new tab that has Parallel Resources with that headword. After choosing resource in new tab, can drag that tab as desired:

Bible Word Study has Lemma section, which is another method of studying.
