If you are like me you are always wondering what exactly is updating in Logos 4. This is a great product but I must admit I tire of the "mystery updates". There is often so much chatter on the forums about what has updated that I put in a request to have Logos add a window that tells us what has updated [as Logos 3 did].
Vote here let's see if we can get it added!

Done! Great idea!

Hey i have voted, an excellent idea.
I love Logos 4, but this is the major problem that i have with it, that we cannot see what has been downloaded, it doesn't have to be like Logos 3 where we had to manually download, but even if there was a report done and stored, that we could access via logos 4 that would what has downloaded and when, it would come in handy especially if we have loads of books and is wondering if it has downloaded into Logos 4.
i am currently having an issue where i ordered the Calvin 500 collection through the pre-pub and i received the cd, version but it still hasn't downloaded into my Logos 4. I will make a separate post for that.
cheers,
Aaron
May I suggest that another item on the list (which is already higher up in vote count) overlaps with this wish and in fact is a superset of it. So it would be more effective for us to throw our votes behind the former instead, and link to the one you're suggesting for further info on what we mean by "more user control over downloads, updates, resource updates". Here's that other one:
http://logos.uservoice.com/forums/42823-logos-bible-software-4/suggestions/513797-implement-more-user-control-over-downloads-update?ref=title
I tried yesterday to post a comment on each one of those items linking to the other one and suggesting we combine them and cast all our votes for the one with the highest votes so that it has a better chance. My comments were posted successfully but they seem to have disappeared today. Hmm... Deleted by the higher powers? Maybe it's not considered permissible to include links in comments, or to lobby for one or the other item on the list.
hi thanks my problem with the Calvin 500 is fixed. but one other thing is the scroll, it doesn't work properly with the touchpad scroll, it either won't scroll or it will scroll once and wont do it again, i have two different laptops, and it does it on both machines so i don't think it would be my laptop.
Aaron, please start a new thread if you have an unrelated question. It is likely to be overlooked otherwise. And it make it harder to search through the forums later for relevant information when separate issues are mixed together in the same thread. Thanks.
But for now, since you've already brought it up, the touchpad scrolling problem has been reported by others before. It is due to a bug in Microsoft's .NET/WPF platform. See this thread for more info: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/8134.aspx. I'm guessing both your laptops have Synaptics touchpads?
I have started a new post for this. and yes it is a Synaptics touchpad
No need for the new thread now; I was just suggesting that practice for the future. I've answered your question above.
Rosie I appreciate your input however I think the two requests are similar yet different enough to be seperate. My request specifically deals with Logos simply adding an alert as to what they are updating and does not deal with the issue of selecting said updates.
Logos 4 is built on an auto update system designed to keep everyone's resources and code up to date without having to run an independent process. Logos 3 apparently had the drawback [based on user error] of not being up to date because users were not aware of how to update. I have no problem with my resources being updated automatically with corrected databases and system code and I still have the option to cut the auto update off as is..
I cannot think of a reason why I would not want the latest book vesions and features added which is why I have no problem with it. What I don't care for is "mystery updates" and the scavenger hunt that follows to discover what they just updated on my PC.
After posting my request less than 24 hours ago it has almost overtaken the other request as they are within 14 votes of eachother. It seems prudent that it remain as many people just want to be notified but may not want to have to select what they want updated.
Bob has also addressed this in past forum posts as well, noting the problem in Logos 3 with users never updating and then running outdated versions, having no clue that there were versions out there with fixes and new features added. This could definitely strain the tech support group unnecessarily when users call about issue that would be fixed had they only updated to the latest version etc. In a different example think of how many users PCs would be safe if they only kept the OS patched and security software up to date.
Seems to me that they are different enough to vote for both items and they are both in the top 25 requests so Logos is sure to give heed to both even if not another vote is cast. Thanks for pointing this out though [:D]

Your suggestion is needed. I've just given you my last 3 votes!
Hope it happens soon. After all it's polite to tell people what you are doing to their equipment, even if there is no added cost involved! And it's good customer relations.
Every blessing
Alan
Thanks for the single voice Alan! We have a wonderful product here with Logos 4 but this is a needed feature. Ever notice the number of posts asking "What updated?" after every update?
I think we all would appreciate this one... And looks like support is gaining with the voting for this feature.
Please vote here all who support the feature:
Thanks

Bob Pritchett has just recently posted a link to another post of his that explains why they will not be heeding our requests for this feature. UPDATE: Actually, he was explaining why they won't give us fine-tuning control over what we update when, but maybe they'd still be open to showing us what has recently updated, or what is about to update, so we can be more wise about deciding whether we need it right now or can wait until our download quota resets to zero at the beginning of next month (for those on limited bandwidth).

Ditto! If the silly voting system allowed it I'd be in uservoice, but my voting power is used up!

Haven't you found that some of the things you've already voted for are now marked Started or Planned? You can reallocate your votes from those things, since leaving them there would be a wasted vote as Logos has already heard the message and is doing that feature.
UPDATE: I've also occasionally found that a newly added idea is more important to me than one of the other ones I'd voted for, and even though the other one hadn't gotten Logos's buy-off yet, I've moved my vote to the higher priority item.
Thanks for the encouragement Rosie. I went there and found I had 10 votes!!! Last time I had zero. So it's still a silly system and I've got 9 votes left.
Agreed! [Y] x 3 votes
Are you sure you were logged in with the same userid just now as when you had 0 votes before? Your vote count is tracked based on your login. You can still vote when you're not logged in (or logged in as a different user or from a different computer or different browser, where you've got different cookies) but it's kind of cheating because you aren't staying within your limit of 10 votes. But if you think it's a silly system then I suppose I can understand why you wouldn't give a Hooton about that... [:)]

That confirms how silly it is. By logging onto 2 more (Firefox) browser sessions I've now got 29 votes! If I use IE8 as well I suppose I''ll have 59 votes...I wouldn't give two hoots about it[;)].

Thanks again Rosie for the update. As I stated in my earlier post I have read Bob's thoughts on this before which is why my feature request was always about simply being advised on what is updated and not on choosing what updates.
Please continue to vote if you desire a window or history to advise you on what Logos has added or modified when they push out update goodies to your PC. Just want to end the mystery, vote here please:
I agree with Kevin...and yes I know, Bob P. has made it clear about not giving users the choice on what to download (for good reason). But to be informed on what downloaded/updated is all that most of us want. Simple Information.
Your software (LOGOS, Corp.), My Computer.
Seems like only the slightest reasonable courtesy.[H]
