Book on Paul

What is a good book or two on the apostle Paul. Something that might show how Paul would have thought about things being the Pharisee he was and his conversion. I am sort of wondering why Paul was the apostle to the gentiles as opposed to Jews. I would love to get that Pauline set on sale for April but no way to afford that now. Maybe a book or two in lew of a set.

I'd recommend:
- F.F. Bruce, Paul: Apostle of the Free Spirit
Too bad Gordon Fee's Paul, the Spirit and the People of God isn't available in Logos format yet, as I'd recommend that one too. But if you just want to read it you could get a used copy for $12-15. (It's out of print.)

Schreiner's book on Paul is good, but Michael F. Bird (an emerging evangelical NT scholar) has a new one too. Bruce is good, but slightly dated.

The Michael Bird one looks good, but isn't available in Logos format yet. UPDATE: Oops. The Schreiner one isn't either.

Are these books in pre-publication? What about that Fee book?

I also recommend F. F. Bruce's book Paul: Apostle of the the free Spirit. (I think was originally titled Paul: Apostle of the Heart Set Free.) Hard to beat Bruce for scholarship.

Jeremy,
I am sorry it seems your having a bad day? I really do like logos books. I am walking around bookstores now wondering if I could get this or that book in electronic form. i probably ought to purchase a kindle or another book reader for the more popular books. I just can't seem to find the way to not get Logos resources for time enough to buy the other reader and books for that.
Anyway, I hope tomorrow picks up for you.

Nope. But Fee has been requested. I think the other two ought to be requested, too.

John Polhill's book, Paul and His Letters is good and it is available in Logos.

I LOVE Logos books. I just don't wait for the best ones on Paul to come out in Logos format before reading them. I know I was supposed to give a Logos suggestion, but I couldn't resist.

Jeremy, I appreciate the input. I may very well step outside Logos for a book because I want it now and there are just not to many single books on Paul available in Logos. The reason for my "having a bad day" post is because you wrote Logos Schmogos. I did not understand why you would have that "feeling" toward Logos. I just want to wish better things for you if you were having a bad day.
