I've spent the last few days trying to sort out for myself what the move from Logos Now to Faithlife Connect means for me. I've read quite a few of the posts about it and decided to share my thoughts in the hope it might be helpful for others, recognizing that each person's situation is different.
A little background - I have been a Logos user since 2.0 and have a substantial library. I subscribed to Logos Now almost 2 years ago, primarily as a reasonably priced way of have full access to the new features and datasets, and to get new ones as they were available rather than waiting for 8.0 to be released.
Now for my thoughts -
What I have lost:
Despite my initial reaction of surprise and unhappiness, I have come to realize that the only thing I have lost is the ability to renew the subscription for what I wanted at the same price ($99.00/yr.). I think that having this expectation suddenly made impossible is one of the things that upset me. One the other hand, Faithlife has given me everything I have already paid for.
What I have gained:
Faithlife has extended my access to the Logos Now benefits from April, when my subscription runs out, to November 12 at no additional charge.
In addition, I have the Faithlife Connect Starter benefits until April - not longer since I have decided not to renew. I just don't find FaithlifeTV that interesting. If I had more time I might make use of the Courses - I did take advantage of one as my free course for 6 months.
I have also received a coupon code which I can use to pay for the Feature set when Logos 8 comes out, so that I will not lose access to this when my subscription runs out.
In short, I can't complain. The way this change was made could have been handled better, and I can hope that some way of making the new datasets and features available without all the other things can be worked out at a reasonable price.
