Problems with highlighting "Synopsis of Matthew, Mark and Luke"

I tried to highlight some text today in "Synopsis of Matthew, Mark and Luke" by Jeffrey Glen Jackson today and it does not work for some reason. Can someone test this to see if it works for them? I am currently running 4.0a SR3, so it is possible that this has been fixed with a more recent release.

Hi Donovan, any reason why you haven't upgraded to 4.0b yet? It shipped quite a while ago and has also had a couple of service releases since, so it's at 4.0b SR2 now. There are lots of new features in 4.0b, too, so it is worth upgrading to. See the new features list here: http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4.0b

I am running 4.0c Beta 6, and I do not have that problem. Maybe someone with 4.0b could chime in whether it's been fixed. But I see no downside (other than having to wait for the download and the indexing) to you upgrading and trying it out yourself to see if it's been fixed.

It's selective about what it will highlight in both 40.b and 4.0c beta. It works reliably on italicized text, less reliably elsewhere eg. if I select text at the bottom of Lk 1:5-25 it is likely to select all of the article! However, 4.0b is worth the upgrade.

It's selective about what it will highlight in both 40.b and 4.0c beta. It works reliably on italicized text, less reliably elsewhere eg. if I select text at the bottom of Lk 1:5-25 it is likely to select all of the article! However, 4.0b is worth the upgrade.

I am not seeing this problem at all in 4.0c Beta 6. I can click and drag up and down in the text, crossing between two-column and one-column text, italics or not, all over the place in the file.

I'm still not able to see the problem you're describing in the Synopsis of Matthew, Mark and Luke. What Bible version to you have selected in this resource? That's the only thing I can think of that would be different between our experiences.

I am currently in west Africa where downloading large amounts of data is a big problem due to being restricted largely to dialup speeds. In fact, L4 reports it has updates totaling 2.25 GB which is a physical impossibility for me to pull off. I have been in nag mode (in a nice way) to try to get the good folks at Logos to provide a quarterly subscription of updates via DVD for people who live in rural towns or missionaries/Christian workers living in remote locations. Until something like this occurs or I travel out to Europe or North America, I'll be using this older version. Also, any new books that I have bought on prepub are also piled up somewhere in these updates as well. The cool thing about it is that it'll be a bit like Christmas when I do finally connect to a fast internet connection.

I suspected this highlighting problem is an issue with this older version of L4. Thanks for testing it.

Another perfect and valid example of why I believe Logos should review the ability for us to be selective of what we can download.

You could still update the Logos program by just downloading the program file http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/Installer/Logos4Setup.exe

That would be perhaps 50Mb in total. Logos ought to be able to cope without out-of-date resources in most cases, but it may break things. Whether that would be any worse than the bugs in 4.0a though, I don't know.

I thought about that, but was afraid I would break something if I didn't update the resources at the same time. To break something would be potentially disastrous, so I have left well enough alone for now!

It's patchy whether I use NKJV or ESV in 4.0b. But it's not something I need to resolve!

I'm on 4.0b SR-2. For me, it won't highlight Bible passages at all unless I highlight the whole referenced block. This isn't surprising to me since it's pulling that text from another resource and you can select different versions to import.

That was my thought, Jeffrey, and I'd just work around the limitation.
