Logos is downloading 198% of 14.2MB and rising...

Since the last couple of days, Logos 4 has reported that updates are available but the download just keeps going and going. I've tried several times and currently its on 228% of 14.2MB and rising. If I cancel it and try aagin the same happens...

What gives?

Add - this is one of the reasons Logos 4 needs to show what ios being downloaded. I understand the reasoning behind not allowing me to pick and choose (even though I disagree with that reasoning) but there is no reason I can think of not to provide better feedback without having to slip into some kind of debug/log mode.

It's at 334% now - time to cancel the download I think...

First, enable logging via Javascript ( http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging ) if what I suggest doesn't work you should upload logs for more detailed troubleshooting.

Shut down Logos, cancel the download, and delete C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<Random>\UpdateManager\Updates.db and the contents of the Resources folder in the UpdateManager folder. Then start Logos. Hopefully it will start the download over again and install the book properly.

Note that the Appdata folder is hidden so you will need to enable viewing of hidden files and folders to navigate there.

I, for one, would be happy if Logos took some time to add some features to make it more robust in this area. Things like:

download > 100% = something has gone wrong - delete the Updates.db and try again - done automatically
An informative download progress screen that can be minimized to the icon tray - I like to know what's going on even if I cant intervene
A list of what is included in any update - I might not need a particular update immediately and may wish to defer it until the PC is not in use and can do the download and indexing without interfering with my usage. Then again, I might *really* want a particular resource update but with no feedback from Logos 4 how can I tell? And no, I don't want to have to look up forums and wiki pages - Logos 4 must know what its downloading and installing so there is no reason not to tell me. (Even Windows allows you to see what updates are 'recommended' prior to installing them.
The ability to 'reject' a reource prior to downloading it - effectively the same as hiding it but without the cost of bandwidth (which is sometimes a real, tangible £££ cost for me). Yes I've asked for this before. Maybe, like the widow and the judge, if I just keep asking I may receive [:)]

In short, sometimes it's the little things that cause the biggest frustrations.

but not automatic. Repetitive downloads don't always go over 100%.

Whilst the others should go to a Suggestion or uservoice, these are not likely to be granted despite the bible analogy!
