List versus Calendar Reading Plan Layout

All,

I have several reading plans that I am following. Before the recent update I could view my plans in a Calendar format. It seems I no longer have that option. Am I mistaken? Or have I clicked something that I shouldn't have? Thank you for your help.

I agree that it's weird. The options should appear on the right hand side of the header bar. I can't make it disappear.

I recently purchased a new laptop. I have L4 on my desktop XP and now my laptop 7 x64. If I view this reading plan on my desktop XP machine I do have the options Calendar | List. Just not on the laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. Any other suggestions?

Ok, so in honor of full disclosure, I pray no one shoots me. And if you could do me another favor and NOT look at the file that I attached.

When I opened my reading plan I failed to see the scroll bar at the bottom of the window. You know the scroll bar that would allow one to scroll to the right and then choose the option of Calendar? I am so sorry for my confusion and for this post. All I ask is that you don't laugh too hard. Can you laugh, yes. One of these day's I will be really observant, just not today.

I am glad it is working for you. I will be frank with you just as you have been with us. I to have done the same thing. Too many times to count!!

Just to carry on with a little story. My mom and dad gave me and my brother a new stereo for Christmas about 30 years ago now. It was a nice one with a radio cassette, and phonograph with a couple of speakers. We were extremely excited to get this stereo. We wanted to set it up straight away to see how it sounded. Well, we pulled it out of the box, pulled off all the plastic from the pieces and were setting things up. As we went we were sure to put all packing material back into the box so that it would be protected when we wanted to move again. It was going along swimingly. We hooked up the speakers. Put a cassette in push play and nothing. We tried that cassete a few more times. Still nothing would work. We thought we would get another cassette....we did...nothing. We all were getting a bit concerned that it was a bad stereo. Mom and Dad went to look for the receipt to be able to exchange it. My brother and I were still trying to figure out what was going on. We flipped the switch to the radio and nothing was coming out of the speakers. Now, mom and dad were back and they brought a record with them. We all tried that but it would not turn. We were working with it for about 30 minutes now. I do not remember who for sure....but one of us pointed out the power cord was not plugged into the wall. When that was mentioned we all said lets try that (as if it might not do it.) Well, we plugged it in and everything worked like a charm. The sound out of the bigger speakers were wonderful. When we realized it was the power cord....we were cracking up. For the next month or two.....everytime something would not work right....we would ask....is it plugged in? It was so "funny," All 4 of us were just flabberghasted. We could not believe we missed something like a power cord for a stereo.

A completely forgivable mistake. In fact, I think Logos shouldn't have let you so easily get into a situation where the Calendar and Link options were hidden. It seems to be because you had one line that was so long it required the window to scroll. Logos seems to be putting those options way over at the right beyond the widest line in the list layout. Perhaps they should be on the panel menu instead.

William, your story reminds me of the time when I had just moved into my new house and had the brand new washer and dryer installed. I tried doing my first load of laundry and only cold water would come out even when I had it set to use hot or warm. I waited long enough for it to warm up and still only cold water was coming out. I thought maybe the installation guy had swapped the hot and cold tubes or something. I called for service. The service guy came and started a test load running. I saw him turn the dial to start the washer and I realized what had happened. I had been turning it to the wrong spot on the dial -- the beginning of the rinse cycle, which was always cold. When the service guy started the cycle where it's *supposed* to start, the hot water ran just fine. Duh!

Thanks for the comment. However, I will have to disagree with you a bit here. I like the layout that keeps everything on one line. I am NOT a big fan of text wrapping, or line wrapping. So I can understand why the program works the way that it does. What I can't understand is why I didn't see the humongous scroll bar on the bottom of the screen. I shouldn't blame Microsoft for that should I? [:P] All in fun, sorry about the service call for the washer!

I think you're disagreeing with something I didn't say. I wasn't suggesting wrapping. I don't like it either, and don't mind scrolling to see line lines of text. But to see essential parts of the UI? Not so sure. I suggested putting the Calendar and Link options on the panel menu, which is always available, never need to scroll to get to it. The other place I would have suggested putting it would be on the location bar, where it also wouldn't depend on the line length and scrollbar. I like that there's a scroll bar when there are long lines in the calendar reading plan itself, but don't think the Calendar and Link buttons belong right in the reading plan layout, where they will be sometimes hidden off to the right and sometimes not, depending on whether there's need for a scroll bar. Inconsistent location of UI elements is confusing to users who don't know where to look for them and can even be irritating for users who do.

For the next month or two.....

I need to come clean here. When my family is together we are always remenising about this stereo story. In fact, If we visit people we are usually asking if it is plugged in. The suggestion to see if it is plugged in has never helped but I guess....One of these days it might??
