Mark Read doesn't work while offline

When I am in offline mode on my iPhone or iPad, clicking "Mark Read" does not cause the day to be marked read when I go back online. I have to revisit the last reading for the day and mark it read again. Fix, please?

I am the same. It is quite frustrating.
Also, I wish that the "read" place to tick was not on the edge - makes it hard to select without turning the page. Can it be put into the centre instead?
