Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software question

Currently I've got a pre-order on this pre-pub. In the notes for the pre-pub it mentions that "Scholar’s Library is
recommended. Also recommended, but not required: BDAG and A Concise Hebrew
and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament (Holladay)."

I do have the scholars edition but not BDAG or Concise HAL. In looking at the Concise HAL, it mentions that it only comes on 3.0 CDROM. I'm guessing that means for Libronix v3? Would this work under Logos v4?

Would it be better/make more sense to order the BDAG/HALOT bundle? In my reading it appears to me that he Concise HAL is a "lite" version compared to the HALOT version? Is this correct?

I'm not a student of Hebrew or Greek. I just want to (at this point in my learning) be able to see and understand the original languages as I do word studies and read through my bible.

HALOT contains a wealth of information not found in the abridged version. Most unabridged scholarly lexicons have a compact, dense style of encoding information that both keeps the page count under control and avoids the needless repetition from article to article that would result from an unpacked approach. This can be daunting for beginners - and for folk just skimming lexicons to get glosses and so on, most of the detailed material is ignored anyway. Since the video course is designed for beginners in mind, I don't think they wanted to devote a whole lecture to 'how to read a HALOT article for all its worth'. But if you're willing to do the extra work of reading the longer HALOT articles, then go with that - it's a fantastic resource.

I have both BDAG and HALOT and wouldn't be without them. I've not seen the concise HAL so I can't say how much would be 'lost' using it, but it's logical (to me) that having the full version gives more information and, therefore, a better understanding.

BDAG needs no recommendation from me - it's simply fantastic and the Logos indexing/linking to it makes it a joy to use. That's not to say that other lexicons won't add to your knowledge, either. Liddell & Scott and Spicq's Theological Lexicon of the New Testament are excellent resources.

But, back on topic, I'd get the BDAG/HALOT bundle...

Yes the BDAG/Halot both work great in Logos 4 and in my opinion they are essential to Greek/Hebrew study. I got the bundle when I got L3 Silver in '07 and they are worth every penny. If you can afford them get them for sure.

I do know the languages and have all three lexicons under consideration. I would get the BDAG/HALOT bundle. I do use the concise lexicon as well, there are differences. When I am translating and I am not happy with my options in HALOT I have gone to the concise one and found different options. Having said that if you upgrade one level, to silver, anytime soon you will get the concise lexicon, so I would purchase the bundle if I were you.

I purchased the HALOT last week and I am very glad I did. Prior to that I relied primarily on the CHALOT and DBL and TWOT
