A little help. I am not sure why this is happening, but every time (going on five consecutive launches) I open Logos 4, it begins indexing my library. What's going on here?
7624.Archive.zip
How long does the indexing last? When I first installed A18, it started everytime, but only lasted a few minutes. When I merged the indexes, it stopped doing it.
A couple hours every time.
The last few entries of your indexer log may give us a clue...

Wow. I guess it is. Thanks! I'll try to clear some junk out. Not sure where it came from though.
Try http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/
The program will scan your hard drive and give you a visual on what is taking up what and how much space is being used.
I had something happen with Thunderbird and it was taking up 60GB...after I thought I deleted it.
Enjoy...
Thank you. I greatly appreciate it!
I had the same problem, what I had to do is type in the command box "rebuild index". And that fixed the problem.
Hi Jerry
Just out of interest did rebuilding the index free up some space on your hard drive or did it just allow Logos to work within a smaller space?
I see you that you say that you had the same problem and wondered how near to capacity your hard drive was?

Hey, I ran the grandperspective scan and it is intriguing. I am curious: a file, 5G shows up that says private/var/vm/sleepimage. Any clue what this is, or is it junk that I can get rid of?
Thanks, you serious techy-types!
Mark
Hi Mark
Here is a copy of a post from the Mac Forum
No Einstein... but a little googling goes a long way! There is no need to touch it.The sleepimage is the contents of RAM saved to disk every time your Mac is put to sleep. Thus, if you battery gets critically low, you Mac can go into hibernate mode (turns off all power to RAM). When you restart (hopefully attached to a power cord), then it reads the sleepimage to restore you to the exact point you were before the computer went to sleep.Cheers,Rodney MacBook (2.16 Ghz, 2 GB) Mac OS X (10.5.4) Powerbook G4 12i (867 MHz, 640MB, 10.4.11)
So I take it that getting rid of it will do no harm - it does seem rather large - you might want to examine why.
On the other hand you could shut down your Mac.
Start it up again.
Put it to sleep.
Wake it up again and see if the file has got smaller.
A couple of weeks ago my wife was out of town for two nights and when i went to bed I sprawled out and took up the whole bed, but when she got back, I just took up my normal spot. Sounds like you need to get your Mac a Mac spouse...

You know Mike I don't know if it did or not. What it did do is fix the problem I had with the program. That's all I know, but as far as freeing up some space I don't know.
I guess that 4 G is small compared to the 42.1 G that Parallels takes up. I'm wondering about dumping that, but I use the Logos every day and it's so much more functional than the Mac 4 at this point.
Here's a Mac question for the ones in the know: Are the new MacBooks (15 inch) that much faster than mine which is 2 yrs old, 2.4 Ghz? This is my first laptop and I'm not sure how long they last, whether they slow down over time, etc.
Thoughts?
PS - What's "tootle pip" mean, Mike?
